***THE OFFFICIAL BGOL 2015 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD*** Who you Got?

Here is my break down on why the Cavs are a bad match (at least on paper) up for the Warriors...
When teams play the Warriors they are forced to either play big and be slow or play small and have Thompson shoot over them... The challenge that the Cavs poise for the Warriors that the Memphis was not able to do was the Cavs could play LeBron at 2-5 with out worrying about giving up size or speed...

Here is something that people are going to be up and arms about, but the truth to the matter Curry isn't that much better than a healthy Irving. Sure Curry is a better three point shooter, but Irving attacks the rim much better (Curry misses a lot of layups and gets his shots blocked more), Curry is a better perimiter defender but not as good in the paint and vs the pick and roll... But if you look at their numbers they are almost identical, Curry scored a bit more 23ppg vs 21 by Irving, but Kyrie shot at a higher % so he shot less and their three point % was also close Curry 443 to KI 415....
My point is GS best player is almost identical to the Cavs 2nd best player and in the game JR Smith can match Thompsons numbers on the court and Shumpert and A.I are just about a wash... Which leave one major match up problem, who is going to match LeBrons numbers...
Another problem for the Warriors is that they don't require any double teaming or special attention towards one player, why double up on Curry, let him hit his 30 pts, put a big defender on Thompson, keep his numbers around 20 pts and make the other guys earn their points with set plays and one on one offense... This is the very same stratagy that worked like a charm vs OKC..Meanwhile LeBron and Irving is going to require so much attention with their ability to attack the hole (something that GS is not used to in the West) and unlike the Spurs they don't have one guy they can put on James..
Basically I see it playing out similar to the way the game played out the last time they played, funny that game looked eerily similar to how OKC looks when they go up against a LeBron ran team...
But thats getting ahead of ourselves there are still plenty of games left and like I always say once the ball starts bouncing anything can happen..

As far as people talking about the Cavs depth, keep in mind most teams in the playoffs shorten their benches and from here on there isn't a team that have the personal to really attack their weaknesses... Now if they had to go up against a healthy Pacer team or a healthy Heat team I could see your point... To be honsest the size of Chicago was supposed to be a big threat, and they handled them easily even with out Irving and JR for two games..
As far as the Hawks go, The Cavs have 4 players that can play the 4-5 position but in reality it will be mostly James, Mozgov and Thompson , unfortunately for teams like the Warriors and Hawks, they are not physical enough to try to grind and wear down the Cavs like the Celtics and Bulls tried to do, and when they play the Cavs the Cleveland started should be able to log in more mins with out worrying about fatigue and injuries..
As far as Irving health, he should also be good, mainly due to them not needing that much from him for now and with so many good guards he should be able to pace himself until the GS series...
If anything I expect the Hawks to wear down as the series progress, playing against LeBron is not easy, he will wear most defenders down and the Hawks don't have enough defenders who can step in and guard him one on one... Think about it, as great of a defender Butler is, the Bulls had to use practically their whole team to help him, and this is what killed them as LeBron dominated time after time by finding the open guy...

Here is the Cavs problem. They match up terrible against the Atlanta Hawks. You keep mentioning Memphis but Gasol and Zach Randolph can actually score from the post. Thompson and Mozgov can't score from the post. They can make a few baskets here and there but they are not the kind of players where you can just dump the ball to them.

The Huge match up problem for the cavs will be with trying to defend the Hawks bigs. Al Horford and Mislap can play on the inside and outside. Mozgov will struggle to guard Al Horford on the perimeter. Horford can get pass Mozgov with ease which will force Thompson to rotate. When Thompson rotates to help Mozgov that will leave Milsap wide open as he can play inside or step back to hit the three. Because of depth issues the Cavs next forward off the bench will be James Jones:smh:

On the offensive end Mozgov or Thompson simply are not efficient enough to worry about. While they are bigger players can they actually score in the post at a high level?

To me the only match up the Cavs can go with is with a line up of

PG Kyrie
SG Shump
SF JR Smith
PF Lebron
C Thompson

When it comes to Golden state are you kidding me? The Cavs have no bench and you are going to have to rest Lebron and Kyrie at some point. And to think JR Smith will match Klay is simply crazy and wishful thinking.

Golden State is very deep and with out Love they will have match up advantages all over the court.

People like Zach and Gasol can post up, but those type of players need to be set up and fed by other players... Memphis problem is that they don't have people who can pass on the move nor do they have any jump shooters... So teams pack the paint and pushing Gasol and Zack deep and deeper so now they start shooting bad shots and are not in position for the rebound...
With the Cavs their seceret weapon is that they have two players who can not only attack the rim but also pass on the move, not only that they have some of the best outside shooters in the NBA..
As far as Mozgov goes, I have the feeling you will see a lot of James at the 4 and Thompson at the 5... But as long as the Cavs hit the open jumpers (the shot was there all day in the Wiz game) the Hawks defense will get shredded..

You think Kyrie can just pace himself and not have to do much against Atlanta? If Kyrie paced himself and Lebron were to average 35 a game the Cavs would get swept by the Hawks.

The Cavs will need Kyrie Healthy and playing at an elite level if they want to beat the Hawks.

I think he will be primarily used as a spot jump shooter leaving most of the pg duties to LeBron plus his min will be limited during the first two games, but that should be a issue with Dellavedova... I think it may be a problem if he has to miss more than one game..

That OKC team would have destroyed Memphis especially the way they played vs the Warriors... As far as Brooks, their team has a run and gun style of play that is very similar to GS that style works like magic vs certain teams but not so good against others... Good thing for both OKC and GS there are very few teams that has the personal to match up against them..

Wrong!!!!!!

The playoff history between these Memphis and Thunder squads favor Thunder, but every series went 7 games, wasnt no "destroying":hmm:

I said the OKC team that made it to the finals (with Harden) would destroy this current Memphis team, if you watched them play all season, especially towards the end, you'd realize that they are not the same team as in the past..

:dunno: I am not over here for everyone to agree with me, making it one big old kumbaya, I type a lot, some you will agree some you may not, all I ask is that you disagree, do what the other guys are doing, simply address the issues..
To me saying that its bullshit is a cop out, something anybody can do to anything anybody writes, but no matter how much you disagree with me, if you stick to the issues, I have no problems and I will give you your props for addressing it as a man..
No time for the homotional bullshit and mud slinging, those are the characteristics of homos, women and cacs..

True, but to me it only points out what wrong with some teams in the NBA... Some teams have such a small window of opportunity to win in the league why blow it by doing absolutely nothing to upgrade your team... Because in sports, if your not improving your actually getting worse, so this same Memphis team that was a legit contender a few years back, is now nothing more than a one and done team, at best..

You can't even talk about fans.

I understand being a fan of a player, I rooted for Kobe to rack up titles during his run.

But you stay acting like you're a true fan of a team and you try to back that up with a wall of text breaking everything down.

On top of that, you act as if you've just always been a fan of said teams and lebron just happened to come along.

Again, there's nothing wrong with rooting for a player instead of a team, but you shouldn't be talking about any "salty fan" of any team, because if Lebron joined any one of those squads you'd be breaking shit down in favor of that team and pretending slyly like you've always respected the team or some shit like that.

It's just ridiculous to see. You're not the only one who does it - there's several in this thread. Your MO is to over analyze the game, the is to talk major shit - which is easy when you always decide to roll with the favorite.

And for the record I like LeBrons game for the following reasons
1- He is drive to the hoop, make passes on the move play tough defense first, not the Euro trash shit that them CAC's are trying to shove down our throats...
2- He is a positive strong black leader who loves sticking it to the CAC establishment..
3- He is a true teams player, humble and not selfish...

My rooting for him is consistent with me rooting for Bonds, Jordan, Ali, Rice, Sugar Ray, Kareem and Magic.. So if you have a problem me rooting for strong black people then you are either a Coon, CAC or a fan of the teams I just posted..
And I understand....
