The Music sucks to you because you're old!!!!

I thought it was more than that and I could've sworn it was but this whole thread is dedicated to how wack the game is. And what's the representation for it? Migos and Bobby Shmurda? That's crazy.

Right. People hate/fear what they don't know or understand. Shit is crazy to me.

There's no excuses now though. Like the music game has changed so much that we're exposed to so much music DAILY. So much quality music daily to let radio dictate what's hot.

I understand. I fucked with No Limit. Still do this day. And No Limit had some quality rappers over there. Mystikal and Mac were nice. But you think them cats were influenced by Mystikal and Mac? They were influenced to the lifestyle and the hit songs that you heard on the radio. I see how these lil' dudes move. They acting like the same shit i've seen back when I was young and seeing how CM and No Limit was moving.

And you think dudes will shit on the No Limit era? For the music? No. And there was some quality music dropping in there too but as you can see that type of shit is more so to blame than these young cats just coming out of nowhere making music. They had to be influenced by someone. Pac as well. People want to bring up how conscious Pac was but the Pac you saw in the media and heard on the radio is not the conscious Pac.

I'm a victim of not giving new artists my money until I either see them on tour or hear some of their music. Like I bought Stalley's album because I knew what to expect. And i'll buy Krit's too.

I always liked Mystikal. He was definitely an exception.

Buying cds is goofy. I bought drakes album, do those count?

The thing is females gonna still buy albums. Men don't. Which is why you see artists like Nicki, Drake, Trey Songz being heavily promoted. Labels only gonna promote what you purchase. So if all we purchasing is Drake than cats shouldn't wonder why a album like Stalley's goes under the radar or the Run The Jewels album.

I have never heard this word use to describe men or young men before.

The word is not even gender-based in the connotative sense. Don't be ignorant.

Rap sucks now cause these new ninjas suck. Was at my nephews 21st birthday party and the shit they were bumping was pathetic. Hooks like "I'm rich, I'm paid, you's a bitch go way"

Simple ass materialistic rhymes spoken with the voice of a man bitch.

Back in the day, you went from Cube, to Brand Nubian, to Scarface to EPMD, BDP, NWA etc.

All were distinct groups/artists who sounded nothing like the next one.

These new cats sound like they can't even spell the shit they are writing and it's basic shit.

part of the reason is that folks these days aren't deep. It's like they're trying not to be deep. Like they're trying not to have a point in life, like a paper boat on the water just going with the wind and water current. They don't want to be different because they fear that by being different they risk not being accepted and they want more than anything else to be accepted. this is the mindset of grown children let out of their parents sight for the first time and the first thing they want to do is eat a bunch of candy and nothing else

they are grown little boys and little girls. All they know is defiance but they didn't take the time to learn about who or what they are defying. They are justifying everything if it came from somebody that is not a peer then it is wrong. tell them not to do something, and they do it just to spite you. Tell them they need to learn something and they won't learn it just to spite you. they are the epitome of ignorance but 100 times worse because not only do they not know better, they don't want to know better and that is the worst kind of being.

they are the walking dad blindly following anything negative a can simply because you don't want them to follow anything negative. Look at those Black children born in the suburbs to parents who have money. Where do they want to hang out? In the projects down the way. why? Because their parents don't want them there because that place is no where to be or want to be.

everything they do from the clothes they wear, to the music they listen to, 2 the tattoos that they get on their body. It isn't because they like it, it is because they think one of their peers would like it. they live and die on the opinions of their dumbass peers. Let one of their peers here then listing to an artist that the pier believe is played out or not cool and that person will delete all of that artists music from their iPod.

I'm black and I listen to country music, I don't give a damn who think it's cool or not. As a matter of fact I kind of throw it in peoples faces, I roll downtown listening to Taylor Swift with the windows down and the volume all the way up. in part because I like it, but also because people don't think it's cool for me to be different like I am and the people of today's generation just are not built strong enough to stand on their own in opposition of their peers and that is the saddest thing of all.

I grew up listening to The Isley Brothers, Sam Cooke, the Jackson 5/ The Jacksons/ Michael Jackson/ the Manhattans, but my mother also listened to Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, average white band, The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama and on down the line.I loved the former, but I hated the latter because I, like the kids of today cared what people thought about me. The best part of my growing up was when I couldn't afford the clothes and shoes that my peers had and I was an Outkast, and soon I began to think for myself dress how I like dressing, listen to the music that I like listening to regardless of who liked it or who didn't. many of you reached that same., but children today refuse to see it. They refuse to stand up alone which is a big reason why music is terrible because the Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne and music like that is allowed to be without objection unless the crowd objects.

Instead of the crap, why don't you dudes focus on the good music

Killer Mike and El P put out a dope album

Stalley, Logic, Vince Staples, Joe Budden, Krit, Ransom...have all put out projects recently

You muthafuckas would rather whine and live in the past getting your Al Bundy on though :dunno:
They don't wanna do that. Their out of touch & would rather bitch day in/day out about shit that they subject their ownselves to.

Niggas didn't think Illmatic was a classic though until years after that shit came out. Shit didn't go platinum until like a few years ago. Dudes tried to hate on that shit too. Its them old heads that don't want shit to change. People hated on Jeezy when Thug Motivation 101 came out. That cat goes to NY right now and perform ANY song from that album and they'll know all the words. But I remember when cats was saying he was trash.
You stay showing your youth and ignorance fam. :smh:

You was 9years old when Illmatic came out. Please stfu.

Good point.

because they reality is they are old or just like the whine or complain all the damn time

because they would know about the good artist or try and find or seek them out. With the internet it's not hard to find out about good rappers.
Im old, but the reality is the quality of music has plummeted. And the saddest aspect of that is that its the reality despite the countless sources we currently have to get the sound from. I hardly ever listen to radio (terrestrial) but when i do its the same inaudible songs with some skinny jeans hood trapstar marblemouthing shit lyrics about pussy and murder. Today is sunday and the three times i was in the car i passed by shade 45 and the hip hop station and both were blasting trash tunes. More garbage is absolutely pushed to the fore front these days. That isnt debatable.

Me neither.

Naw, the difference there are just more rappers in 2014 than there were in 1994.

There's still a good number of good rappers who have lyrics.

They just aren't supported or gossiped about.

It's easier to be a rapper these days.

As Cam'ron would say: You wasn't there B!:lol:

anyone from that era will tell you that Illmatic was an INSTANT classic.. just the fact that you referenced going Platinum with it being a classic as if that matters, shows either youre a young dumb nigga.. or just some country nigga:lol::lol:

btw, how many of you actually buy music?

I like something...I still buy a physical copy(CD)

Did it for Stalley and Run The Jewelz 2

I still buy CDs. But it's mostly for Jazz. They're primarily "box collections" of rare stuff (Soul Note/Black Saint). But I feel that Black Jazz Musicians need support. So I buy the music after reading the various Jazz mags (which a neighbor leaves in the building lobby). Or due to previous works of an artist.

And some Rock. I definitely plan on buying the new Pink Floyd when it drops. And any new stuff by RUSH.

But like I tell younger cats Popular music hasn't been any good since the mid-90s. It's more about dropping a single than it is creating an entire album of "gems" now.

I listen to a lot of the newer stuff peeps post on here.
And I'm usually, "UGH".
