My momma put me onto Outkast. I was in 4th grade. She used to bump da fuck outta "Git Up, Git Out" in her jeep.
real talk tho if u seen it posted numerous times then you have to assume it has some validity, maybe not in your case but in general,we all cant be lying jus to lie. you're making it sound like i said niggaz from ny were gettin chased down like stars or some shit, all im saying is in my experience in various states in the south i was gettin a lot of pussy simply cause i was from Ny. when i would go to the club wit my cousins and ppls out there i would stand the fuck out and bitches were dropping panties on sight. i will admit that the NY shit holds no weight no more unless you go to another country but in that case you can be from anywhere in america and still have that same effect
I fucks with backspin on satellite radio. Ed Lover is the host and now monie love is joining. Nothing but old school rap.
I wish Sirius had more talk radio on it. Backspin as well. Seems like they just come in talk a little bit and then leave.
I wish there was some hip hop stations that were like how Foxxhole use to be when Jamie would come in.
And niggas SHITTED on the Source for giving it 5 mics right or wrong?
No, music sucks because it is stale and unimaginative, and the men don't even try to sound like men. Lil Wayne sounds like he forgot to pass puberty or has a frog in his throat, and raps over simple ass beats that some 4th grader thought up. When I grew up (graduated in 95) we rapped over old R&B beats, P Funk, and shit like that. I thought Master P and all of his crew were trash, and lil Wayne & juvenile.
Music today has nothing on rap from the 90's from a creative standpoint

Shiddddd, out here they be like "you got a strong ass accent & heavy drawl, you ain't from around here, are ya???" Sho'll ain't.ive always gotten luv from the yella gal's in the south
"yea im from cali"

There was higher level of skill required in general back then.
Artists that had some consciousness in their lyrics got play too.
Now it's all about the beat, the bitches, and the club
Definitely agree with GOW.
I don't know what it was...but the rappers from the 1990s were just so much more precocious. Compared to today, 1990s rapmusic is grown-up music.
Ed Lover has his time slot and just recently moved to 6pm eastern and the ability to take calls from listeners. He is always interviewing an old school rapper, DJs and producers. My only beef with him is he plays too much beastie boys and Run DMC.
Talking about Nas like he was Made Men
I know you're trying to win an argument, but just admit what you said was wrong![]()
Check out Combat Jack's Soundcloud page.
He has a lot of really good interviews

So XXL didn't a few years back change their mic rating to XXL? I'm not shitting on Illmatic. I know its history and how its paved the way and raised the bar for a lot of albums that came after it.
Instead of the crap, why don't you dudes focus on the good music
Killer Mike and El P put out a dope album
Stalley, Logic, Vince Staples, Joe Budden, Krit, Ransom...have all put out projects recently
You muthafuckas would rather whine and live in the past getting your Al Bundy on though![]()

Bingo! That's the difference. Young kids in the 70s 80s and 90s respected the generation before them and were inspired by them. They learned from them. They made something new out of the old. And this is not just about sampling.
Prince was 17 when he made his first album.
That's my thing. People keep talking about how wack the game is but i've heard more dope albums than wack albums this year. People are the ones filling their ears with that bullshit and are the first ones to cry about the current state of music.
I'm not a Logic fan but I been hearing people talk about his album being nice. But KRIT, Stalley and Vince dropped some great albums as well as that Run The Jewels album.
Who do you think these young kids learning from? They learning from the same people that was hot in the 90's and 2000's.
When dudes were making "radio friendly" singles.....that's what kids ate up and that's what you see from the game on a mainstream level. Nothing has changed but the age of the cats who grew up on 90's music.
There are some 15 year olds out there right now that will say Migos, Gucci, Boosie, etc. are the greatest shit they've every heard in their lives.

I don't deny it might be true though. It didn't go down where I stayed but the fact that y'all keep saying it lends me to believe there's some truth to it.I don't know if it was you but some others have stated they came to the south and took all our women.

Real talk...the music is just bad
...
In 1984 a 20 something at time could fast forward to 1994 and still think the music was good while they were a 30 something.....
This shit now is just noise..
That's my thing. People keep talking about how wack the game is but i've heard more dope albums than wack albums this year. People are the ones filling their ears with that bullshit and are the first ones to cry about the current state of music.
because they reality is they are old or just like the whine or complain all the damn time
because they would know about the good artist or try and find or seek them out. With the internet it's not hard to find out about good rappers.
XXL wasn't even around in '94

The biggest thing I saw was the other day I saw that Freddie Gibbs and Jim Jonesn story and dudes was talking about how Freddie was wack or they was like "Who?". How can you say shit is sack when you not even familiar with Freddie Gibbs? He's not a mainstream household name but if you not familiar with Freddie Gibbs you have a lot of music you missing out on from artists not even as popular as him.

Good is subjective. The majority of these cats are awful. I remember when folks tried to put my unto kush and oj. I remember sitting in the car bored the fuck iut of my mind.because they reality is they are old or just like the whine or complain all the damn time

I saw that shit
BGOL logic, I've never heard of him...he doesn't get played on the radio...so he's wack

Dudes just expose themselves, and I![]()
Yeah you right. I remember Chief Keef saying the Drill Music sound was inspired by No Limit. That's who they grew up on and admired. That's extremely limiting tho IMO. That keeps you in that bubble and perpetuates the cycle of mediocrity. No Limit was the first sign of decline to me when they came out back in the 90s AND blew up.
It was like I was standing there with my mouth open and shaking my head at the same time. Many people during conversations like these spot the rise of No Limit as the turning point for the slow decline in quality in the state of hip-hop. And that has nothing to do with any North South beef or being called a hater. The quality decline was glaringly apparent.
Once again intelligent and educated youth will buck the trends and go against the common grain. Chief Keef is a perfect example.
