The Mayweather Method:

Marquez has been chasing Pac for years, all of a sudden at a weight Marquez looked terrible at - Manny wants to fight him?

funny how the top fighters do that. It is BS. I actually don't plan to pay for the Manny fight. I would mind JMM coming at a weight he is comfortable at and fighting Manny at whatever weight he feels comfortable at as long as it is not over the weight limit of 147. They could of done that. But that isn't how boxing works these days. And that's what is wrong with it.

Cotto had 2 brutal fights out of the 3 before Pacman. Anyway this is semantics. Marquez has been chasing Pac for years, all of a sudden at a weight Marquez looked terrible at - Manny wants to fight him?

Which 2 brutal fights are you referring to? The only one I can remember is the one with Margarito and I don't feel like boxrekking. I don't know about this all of a sudden stuff. Pac has been campaigning at 147 for years now so if Marquez wanted to chase him that was his problem. These two guys are fighting for the 3rd time now so I don't see how you can fight a guy 3 times and be ducking him. Also, Ricky Hatton looked terrible at welterweight too before Mayweather fought him. Mayweather didn't want any of Hatton at 140. I guess all of a sudden Mayweather wanted Hatton at 147, a weight he looked terrible at...

I love how Mayweather's opponents get questioned and put under the microscope but not Manny's.

Cotto was coming off two brutal beatings and Roach even said he wasn't the same fighter. Clottey just stood there and basically got paid to be a loser coming off a loss. Margarito never deserved to fight again and had gotten his ass kicked in his previous fight. Marquez is being asked to move up 2 weight classes when allegedly Manny has trouble making 147. But Floyd's last 2 opponents were coming off of huge wins. Mosley ko'd Margarito and Ortiz took Berto's title. But Floyd is the slick cherry picking dude huh? Gtfoh.

The thing is when he beats Pacquiao what will they say then? They can't say well he has not fought Pacquiao , what will be there arguments after that?

the same Pacman that grab Cotto's 147 strap fighting under the 147 limit what a fucking joke Arum & Pac's team ....:smh:

Some of the greatest fighters of all time grabbed their straps in under the limit fights. Catchweight title fights have been going on for close to 100 years and have never been a big deal until Pacquiao came along. This catchweight argument wielded against Pacquiao as if it was something negative is the result of misinformed fans or fans that have just forgotten their boxing history.

this shit again....

In my history talking boxing on BGOL it is the same shit.

This dude is obsessed with Floyd.

I've asked this dude to so me anyone before Floyd's retirement saying that Floyd was avoiding a fight them or any sign that he wanted no parts of the tough fights... Nothing. I posted a video of Floyd calling out all the fighters that this dude says he ducked and he played dumb like he didn't understand the question.:smh:

He was one of the main people complaining about Floyd fighting small guys around the time Floyd called out Pac. The belief then was that Mosley was the toughest WELTER WEIGHT fight for Floyd and Floyd was ducking Shane by calling out Manny, even though, video footage clearly showing that Shane was ducking Floyd up until that point was presented and ignored.

Then the Floyd shit leading up to the fight with Shane became about him fighting everyone in the welter weight division clearing it out by fighting all the real welters and unifying the title, because he can't beat one or two guys and be considered great. Yet, now everything is about he proving himself against one guy.

Floyd beat Shane and then it was he was ducking Pac and/or he needs to fight a big, young and hungry champion because Shane was shot. Ortiz fit that description and now its about the skill gap, between Ortiz and Mayweather... ignoring that there is a large skill gap between Floyd and everyone else. Also people act like Floyd didn't come out of retirement calling out the guy that is now accepted as his toughest comp and Pac broke off negotiations.

Can we just say fuck it already... Some people don't fuck with Floyd and these discussions are worthless because they are riddled with bias, not to mention illogical changes in positions.

Pac was too small, too old and had too many battles... it isn't hard. I called that they would say Shane was old/shot almost 2 years before they fought.

you again. you didn't read what I wrote. LMAO, funny. If you read it you will see it is not an anti PBF thread. But an anti state of boxing thread. Bad fights are being made and wwe are fools for buying them and into them.

While your points may be valid, how does it invalidate any of the points made in the OP's post?

The Mayweather Method: Find an opponent who has zero chance of ever hitting you, much less hurting you, but who has some credentials, possibly a meaningless title won against inferior competition. Hype the mismatch for months, somehow convincing people eventually that the 7-1 underdog has a real chance. Convince the world that this is a grudge match, that you've been disrespected. Counterpunch to an easy victory, without ever really exchanging or risking being hit. Collect millions from those you've conned. Rant about how much you want to fight Pacquiao, even though you know you'll never fight him. Deposit money. Repeat annually, or maybe every 18 months or so. Wonder why nobody gives you credit for being the greatest of all time!

isnt the point of boxing is to hit and not get hit

What's funny is most people are not getting it. Boxing is in dire straits because of the following.

1) Use of catchweights
2) Avoiding fighting the best challenges
3) The lack of a competitive heavyweight division
4) Titles not mattering
5) To many weight classes
6) To many belt holders

All these things hurt the sport. But you guys rather cry and defend your favorite boxer instead of discuss what is actually wrong with it. That's number 7.

7) Stupid fans of the sport

Why even discuss it? Discussing it won't change anything. There's too much money in the world now for things like protests and discussing shit to work. If protesting mattered anymore, the Iraq war would have been cut short and that stadium in the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn wouldn't be getting built. When there is so much money on the table, protesting doesn't mean shit.

First of all. That was the writer's opinion. I actually love defensive tactics and counter punchers. As for the point of boxing being to hit and not get hit. That is a PBF thing. That is how he fights. Other fighters don't mind getting hit if that means they get to punch you. Lol, don't let PBF tell you what the point of boxing is. That is the point of his style. The point of boxing. Just like any other sport is to win. How you do it is up to you. But I guess I must be anything but black to think that since the mayweather clan teaches this current generation of boxing fans. And to think different I have to be (fill in the blank.)

I read you thread... you obviously don't understand your own thread. Negatively comparing what everyone is doing to what you think Floyd did is an anti-Floyd thread. You have to be really slow if you actually believe this isn't the case, but I understand that you are... so lets be clear if you make someone the poster child of a bad activity you are taking shots at the person too... not just the activity.

Also, I swear you are the one defending Cotto v Margarito II, but you have the balls to talk about people buying the hype for bad fights...

Most people gave Ortiz little chance to win and bought the fight anyway... not because they were conned, but because they love the sport.

Once again you didn't read it or you would speak differently. And I am for Cotto vs Marg. Because Cotto wants to kick his ass for losing to him when he believes he cheated. if you feel you lose when someone cheats. Then I am pretty sure most people want to get their revenge. I get it. If you don't then thanks for following me into another thread acting like some crying ass chick to complain that you don't agree with me. when most of the time you don't read what I write. cause if you did this wouldn't come up and you would move on.

What bad fights are you referring to? Boxing hasn't been this exciting in a while so please enlighten me as to what match ups are so bad that they are endangering this sport that's been here for generations.

Also dont forget how Floyds opponents are never discredited before the fight. Only after Floyd dominates them. Thats the funny thing about fighting. If you are so good you destroy your opponent, people think your not fighting anyone. Its like what Roy Jones went through. What Ali might have faced if he never fell off a little after his exile, and what Anderson and GSP hear in mma.

Barely won it? Maybe. I probably can't remember because I usually just try to erase Clottey out of my mind after all of his fights. I don't remember the fight being that close though. I remember it being bloody. Anyway, I think Cotto is dog meat and I will be betting on Margarito in the rematch.

You must have been missing all of these Pac fights recently.

Anything can happen against any opponent.

The problem with FLoyd is he leaves dudes hanging around. Roy Jones, especially at 175, just swept through 99% of anybody that was anybody in that division. He unified all the major belts by dominating every champion he fought, fought all the number one rated contenders and mostly every guy in the top ten. This is why they were saying Jones should move up to heavyweight. To be asking a guy that started out at 154 to move to heavyweight just shows that Jones was taking care of business. After Floyd left lightweight ten years ago, he never dominated a division ever again. When you couple this with his statements about being greater than Sugar Ray Leonard and other greats, this is one of the main reasons he gets criticized.

Oh please. All we here is how Floyd should move up to 154, hell even 160 - "so we can see him take that first loss!!!"

If he beat Sergio, it would be something else used as an excuse. Like Sergio was too big and slow.

Oh and most people I know thought Clottey pulled that fight out - and the only one bloody was Cotto, so, hard fight.

The hatton fight. Everyone saw him struggle like a mofo at 147. It was pretty clear ricky was not going to have a chance as the 140 pound champ at 147. JMM leaving 135 to fight his first fight at 147. Bad move and as I always said. It was a farce. Shane, who best fight in awhile was 16 months prior to that. Not to mention he was winning but not looking like the shane that fought oscar in almost a decade. I mean none of these fights were compelling to me. Like I said his last decent matchup was against oscar. Wasnt that a majority decision and didnt pbf refuse to give oscar a rematch? Actually I am just asking about that. Cause I vaguely remember that being the case.

Post is dead on... its exactly what he does and exactly why im not a fan. The announcers even pointed it out in so many words during the Ortiz fight.
