funny how the top fighters do that. It is BS. I actually don't plan to pay for the Manny fight. I would mind JMM coming at a weight he is comfortable at and fighting Manny at whatever weight he feels comfortable at as long as it is not over the weight limit of 147. They could of done that. But that isn't how boxing works these days. And that's what is wrong with it.

Pac has been campaigning at 147 for years now so if Marquez wanted to chase him that was his problem. These two guys are fighting for the 3rd time now so I don't see how you can fight a guy 3 times and be ducking him. Also, Ricky Hatton looked terrible at welterweight too before Mayweather fought him. Mayweather didn't want any of Hatton at 140. Margarito never deserved to fight again and had gotten his ass kicked in his previous fight. Marquez is being asked to move up 2 weight classes when allegedly Manny has trouble making 147. But Floyd's last 2 opponents were coming off of huge wins. Mosley ko'd Margarito and Ortiz took Berto's title. But Floyd is the slick cherry picking dude huh? Gtfoh.

Catchweight title fights have been going on for close to 100 years and have never been a big deal until Pacquiao came along. This catchweight argument wielded against Pacquiao as if it was something negative is the result of misinformed fans or fans that have just forgotten their boxing history.

He was one of the main people complaining about Floyd fighting small guys around the time Floyd called out Pac. The belief then was that Mosley was the toughest WELTER WEIGHT fight for Floyd and Floyd was ducking Shane by calling out Manny, even though, video footage clearly showing that Shane was ducking Floyd up until that point was presented and ignored.

Then the Floyd shit leading up to the fight with Shane became about him fighting everyone in the welter weight division clearing it out by fighting all the real welters and unifying the title, because he can't beat one or two guys and be considered great. Yet, now everything is about he proving himself against one guy.

Floyd beat Shane and then it was he was ducking Pac and/or he needs to fight a big, young and hungry champion because Shane was shot. Ortiz fit that description and now its about the skill gap, between Ortiz and Mayweather... ignoring that there is a large skill gap between Floyd and everyone else. Also people act like Floyd didn't come out of retirement calling out the guy that is now accepted as his toughest comp and Pac broke off negotiations.

Can we just say fuck it already... Some people don't fuck with Floyd and these discussions are worthless because they are riddled with bias, not to mention illogical changes in positions.

What's funny is most people are not getting it. Boxing is in dire straits because of the following.

1) Use of catchweights
2) Avoiding fighting the best challenges
3) The lack of a competitive heavyweight division
4) Titles not mattering
5) To many weight classes
6) To many belt holders

All these things hurt the sport. But you guys rather cry and defend your favorite boxer instead of discuss what is actually wrong with it. That's number 7.

First of all. That was the writer's opinion. I actually love defensive tactics and counter punchers. As for the point of boxing being to hit and not get hit. That is a PBF thing. The hatton fight. Everyone saw him struggle like a mofo at 147. It was pretty clear ricky was not going to have a chance as the 140 pound champ at 147. JMM leaving 135 to fight his first fight at 147. Bad move and as I always said. It was a farce. Shane, who best fight in awhile was 16 months prior to that. Not to mention he was winning but not looking like the shane that fought oscar in almost a decade. I mean none of these fights were compelling to me. Like I said his last decent matchup was against oscar. Wasnt that a majority decision and didnt pbf refuse to give oscar a rematch? Actually I am just asking about that. Cause I vaguely remember that being the case.
