Na, I only get the Sunday paper, but Im not surprised. From the looks of it, any part of the city that was old/cheap they seem to be targeting. I live in Woodbury, right off 485 on Albemarle road. Theyre building a new theater, some restaurants and other entertainment stuff off Rocky River, the have a new hospital going up on the other side of the interstate, and some other big box stores Im sure around this area targeting the areas just outside 485 on this side of the city. The part I liked about it was yeah... You go closer into the city it can get a little hood, but out here shit was quiet. ONce all this is finished traffic is gonna be everywhere.

I'm off 485 too, but close to Whitewater center, down from where they're about to build a huge Harris Teeter with gas station, etc. That 16 exit is already crazy, so I only know it's going to get worse too.

i don't live in san fran, and never will. So where else can I get a dime piece in year round great weather with minimal mosquitos, no hurricanes, and then if I feel like it, going skiing in the mountains within an hour drive. Let me know

I mean I don't live there so I cant speak on what it was like. I know I have a lot of meetings coming up there due to the development, I am actually flying in on the 11th again for a meeting about the building at 94th and International. As a property owner yeah you stand to make a lot of money because with out a doubt it is growing and getting cleaned up. Problem I see is something like twitter moving out of sf, they moved in to not have to pay tax, if these companies keep bouncing around to different cities to avoid tax and other things how is the city going to stabalize ? It's great in the beginning when it creates jobs and stimulate the economy, but one the perks are over they are up and out. When the bubble bursts in SF that shit gonna look like Detroit.

I agree that it hurts when businesses move and Oakland shouldn't give breaks for most of these businesses but u can't compare SF to Detroit.

Bring it on. For the most part, I like this new Oakland. Some of the Gentrifiers are annoying but Oakland has more options for dining and entertainment,is much cleaner and safer than it was. I own my property so the improvements are increasing my net worth. I don't like the statistics of our shrinking black population,but the reality is than a large percentage of the black folks leaving are the knuckleheads. Most of my social circle are still here. The few that left mainly moved down South.The biggest wave I'm seeing leaving for the burbs are Section 8 who want larger homes or people with short term thinking who sell their homes for cheaper ones on the burbs.

These small towns in the south are barely making it and the majority of the small town that are majority black are some of the poorest towns in the south.

To own the south we'd have to go back to old living in a new age. Nobody wants to do that country living, but at the same time it's the easiest and most effective way to build a black community. Far easier than trying to compete in major cities where we're being priced out and mixed in with the populace.
