THE LAST AIRBENDER aka Avatar: The Live-Action Film (The Rocky Review)

I refuse to believe this movie is bad as they say. If the bootleg doesn't come out by tomorrow, I'm going to have to go see it.

Seriously have you watched or read any thing about avatar the last air bender.

That show has enough material on philosophy, art, world culture and history, war tactics, love, hate, the mentally ill and/or the psychotic, self defense, and nationality, amongst other subjects to start a decent college course on the show.

Show is fire. If you haven't watched it you should give it a try.

And this is why I have so little faith in this movie. Reading the average joe comments about the movie here and on rotten tomatoes doesn't inspire me either.

What i am mostly upset about is the fact that when this project was fist leaked sham a lam was on just as the director...the shows writers were suppose to be writing the script...then when the trailer comes out...written by sha da loo?

fuck you you hack. and I liked the village. never write another script again.

i'll watch this movie later. im upset off of that fact alone.

and noticing that "grown men" are watching cartoons,

I usually don't go at anyone on this board but dude you sound like a fucking idiot. Really you sound like a fucking fool. Who draws cartoons? Children or adults? Are all cartoons aimed at children?

The demographic or MOST cartoons worldwide are aimed at teenagers and adults. Lemme guess grown ups are supposed to watch sports? The fuck out of here.

Saw it last night. It was tolerable, but whoever thought this movie would be nice in 3D needs to stop smoking that shit.

Avatar set the bar for 3D and these bullshit ass movies have been fucking up the concept ever since.

That said, I may go see Clash of the Titans in the dollar movies since wifey is tripping right now.

First up BITCH, if you don't know what sarcasm is, look it up dumbass, but I stand by what I said, it's NO FUCKING wonder we are a fucking fat stupid nation, when you got grown ass men, what your probably 38 pretending and going to say your 22 right, watching cartoons, and bitching about a movie of a cartoon, when there is much more in life we could be doing, and should be doing, like getting your fat ass off that couch and taking your kids to the park instead of watching a dumb ass movie... Now go suck a cock, gag, and shut the fuck up!!!

As to what I said, it was sarcasm, can't take it, fuck you and your mom, lol...

and of course I watch some cartoons, mainly anything with Batman, hence, it was sarcasm at the remarks of the youtube clip, dumbass...

Never watched the cartoon, just saw the movie and thought it was good. Looking forward to sequel, and now I plan to check out the cartoon.

Agree.

Saw it today. Its not as bad as everyone says. The 3D effects were shitty at best. The movie does follow the cartoon somewhat, but a lot of things were left out that should not have been (Kyoshi Warriors for example). One small thing I hated was Zuko's scar . You could barely see it :smh:. I would have preferred to see a scar similar to Two Face's scar
in The Dark Knight

This movie was fucking wack. Fuck Rocky's Review...Nigga stand on a soapbox like people care what you think.

This movie makes me not wanna fuck with M.Night movies anymore.

btw, the experience 3D was shitty too.

Even if the movie had the name "Avatar" it wouldn't have made it any fucking better.

was it because it was good as a film or was it because it forced you to fill in the mystical "blanks" that you already knew?

i liked it because it was a good ass film...i didnt see most of the series so i didnt have the complaints that most people had like how they didnt pronounce his name right or they kept out important parts that were in the animated series, etc...the dialogue was ok to me but what really drew me into the movie was the action and cgi...id watch it again just for that..the people i was with told me that i only thought it was good because i didnt watch the series that much...i could see where they're coming from because ive been watching some of the episodes and have been noticing where they fucked up as i get deeper into it...i will say this though someone who isnt really that familiar with the animated series love this movie and if you are you will hate it

I saw the movie. I own all 3 books of the series. Actually paid for them out of the store. Loved the movie. For those wanting an honest review:

THIS IS A NICKELODEON MOVIE. IT IS, AS THE CARTOON WAS, MADE FOR KIDS. FOR THOSE THAT HATED THE SCRIPT.

1. YOU CAN'T CONDENSE EVERY ASPECT OF A 5 DVD SERIES INTO 2 HOURS.
2. YOU CAN'T KEEP A CHILD'S ATTENTION FOR 2 HOURS. SO SHORT AND SWEET IS THE BEST POLICY.

Grown men whining about a kids movie. It is pretty much like the cartoon. If you get lost in his name being pronounce "Aang" or "Ong", get a life that is so not important. The only thing that was different that I thought was odd was that the fire benders in the movie could not make their own fire, but had to use existing. In the cartoon it was born from their rage and would just appear. As is the case with all 1st of a 3 part series movies, a lot of time is spent introducing characters and the story lines. There was truly enough bending to please a fan. The intro to the movie mirroring the intro to the cartoon was dope too. My $0.02.

Are you reviewing ME or the movie, you bitch assed punk pussy motherfucka? Get off my nuts and stop stalking my posts. Matter of fact, I'll just FFvb Ignore you and never have to see anything you post again. :hmm:

The movie forced fans to fill in the blanks they already knew about. IMO, that was not cool. No reason why this film couldn't have been 2 1/2 hours. And it's not as bad as the critics say either. These punk assed sheep on BGOL can't fucking form any opinions of their own. Only a handful of you have even seen this movie.

True. I'd like to hear more complaints from real fans about what they didn't like about the film. And I don't give two shits about how the names were pronounced. What else didn't they like?! I just wanted a more fleshed out story that wasn't so condensed and rushed. 1 3/4 hours is too short for this storyline.:hmm:

I remember you said CLASH OF THE TITANS sucked and I watched the DVD SCREENER and liked it. Maybe you hated the 3D

:dunno:

I'm not into Avatar so Will I be like "THIS IS BULLSHIT" or "THIS MAKES NO SENSE" if I never watched an episode?

Avatar and Clash of the Titans are the only movies I ever saw in 3D. But both gave me a migraine headache. So I basically never plan to watch anything else in 3D until I figure out why it made my head hurt. Sorry, but Clash of the Titans let me the fuck down bigtime and the 3D was added after it was shot. That's a big no-no! The new Resident Evil: Afterlife uses James Cameron's 3D camera technology though. Too bad the storylines always suck though.

^^^ Clash of the Titans and Last Airbender were both shot in 2D and then "converted" to 3D. Both movies show the conversion process sucks. It's not truly 3D.

You should only see a film if its shot in 3D from the beginning. That's true 3D. Resident Evils story might be crap but visually it will look great.

Studios are trying to cash in on the higher ticket prices of 3D by doing the last second conversion. Harry Potter is the next movie coming out that was shot in 2D and converted to 3D. I would advise anyone to stay away from the 3D at all cost.

Co-sign

The movie was pretty good for the time frame it was Given

I guess I'm the only one having a problem with the main characters hardly speaking to each other. Also the lack of emotional response to the movie.

Wow....I see so much hatred for this movie

Me personally....i loved it...although I wish I saw it in 2-d I only saw it in 3-d because it was a midnight showing and it worked out for both my friends and families schedule

What people need to realize is that this is an "abridged" version of the TV show....TV shows are much more detailed and to expect the entire Book 1 season to be explained in 2 or less than 2 hours would be unrealistic...there's too much going on....so the next best thing would be to show the important points of the show (Aang meeting up with Sooka and Katara, Aang going to the Southern and Northern Air Temple, freeing the Earth kingdom prisoners, and going to the Northern Water tribe to learn water bending to name a few.)

But this movie obviously wasn't the choice cup of tea for most people.....oh well

I hope M.Knight makes the second movie and improves on the plot.....but keep the action....it was nicely done

I just got back from seeing it..

Now i read the post.. and told my family that I heard it was WACK.
However.. we generally don't ride on anyone else opinion.. we do us.

Well..

As an TRUE fan of the cartoon.. and a TRUE MOVIE HEAD.. that movie SUCKED.

I'm not basing it on following the cartoon.. it's live action movie vs a 5 season cartoon.. so of course shit was gonna get crunched..

but the casting was AWFUL.
there couldn't have been any real research into this movie
The Fx were decent.. but the execution with the bending was CRAZY SLOW and just weak.. that shit was so weak I could have air bended out my ass quicker than that shit.

I saw the movie for free.. and had to go sneak into that Tom Cruise Movie to offset that bullshit ass Airbender bullshit.

DO NOT GO SEE.. wait till it comes on video or on bootleg.

How can I avoid these "coverted 3D" movies? Is there a way to know before hand that a movie wasn't originally made in 3D? Cus that 3D experience was fucking horrible.

M. Night is the reason why black market movies is so popular cus of wack shit like AirBender

I thought the movie was good. I'm sure they will flesh out more in next chapter. I saw the 2d version.

But what I really liked was the "Rango" trailer. Just when I thought animation couldn't get any better.

:eek::eek:

I thought it was pretty good... I was disappointed because it seemed rushed but you can't fit an entire season into a 2 hour movie. Will wait and see how much money it makes to see if there will be book 2 and book 3.

I've been trying to warn you homies. The movie isn't bad because of the changes and the way it was rushed. It was the execution of it all.

No you can't fit the entire Book into a movie, and to his credit M. Night stayed with the main story (mostly). Aang getting to the north pole, while being chased by Zuko and Zhao was the main storyline.

However, along the way Aang and Katara's relationship grew stronger. Katara and Sokka both grew stronger personally. You sensed none of that from them. Zuko & Zhao's animosity goes way beyond Zhao dissing him at dinner.

Those personal relationships are a big miss. Time was spent showing Ozai and Zhao speaking but the same amount of time wasn't dedicated for the heroes. It would have taken all of a minute or two in certain scenes to have the characters talk to each other to show their relationships getting stronger.

Also, the finale was garbage. Aang makes a big tidal wave that does nothing. It goes up and then goes back down. That was supposed a be intimidating. I can't believe that in a 100 year war the Fire Nation would see a big wave do nothing and just run away. I'm sure they were faced with more adversity than that.
