The Giant Schnauzer... I'm thinking about it.

Greetings Fam,

I'm thinking about getting a giant schnauzer soon. Has anyone ever had one? If you have, would you recommend getting one? I've had Pits, Rotts, and a Banddogge. My boy wanted to sell me a Cane Corso. But, I think I want something different.

Oh... I wasn't paying attention to o'le girl in the video... with her fine ass!

Flirted with idea of getting a dog several times before, and each time my search has lead me to the standard/giant schnauzers.

GREAT, intelligent breed. The Giant flies under the radar, because your typical lay person has no idea what it’s capable of, and therefore you’re not dealing with any sort of potential stigma as you would with let’s say something like a Doberman.

I've heard of the Bouviers though. I believe that the Giant is more athletic.

I thought you were looking for options. I don't know anyone with a Giant Schnauzer. I have only seen white people with Schnauzers. The grooming seems like it would be a pain on the Giant. We got a 5 pound Yorkie and she's high maintenance. With long hair comes skin problems. You can send them to the groomer for cuts but you still have to bathe them and blow dry their hair in between cuts.

.

We call this skin allergy “atopy”, and GSs often have it. Commonly, the feet, belly, folds of the skin, and ears are most affected. Symptoms typically start between the ages of one and three and can get worse every year. Licking the paws, rubbing the face, and frequent ear infections are the most common signs.

Almost all of the dogs I've had were short hairs, so this will be new to me. But, I'll invest in the proper grooming equipment, and groom them myself if I decide to get one.

I didn't know about the skin issues, so I'll do some research on that. Good looking out.

Grooming a dog is like cutting your owe hair. You can tell the different when a good grower does it. Wifee will notice too.

I know I'll make mistakes initially, but I'll get it.

I've been cutting my own hair for ages... I even shave with the old school straight razor. So hopefully I'll be a quick study.

I been cutting my hair since 14. Straight razor on my face too. Got professional clippers and edgers. But I tried to cut her once and it didn't look shit like the groomer we use. It's more than just using clippers. Their scissor game is better than mine. I rather pay the $40.
