In one of the saddest news items we have had to report ever, we were sent a news item this morning from KREM news about comedian Clayton Thomas. After reading this news item, please note that Clayton Thomas is ACCUSED of ALLEGEDLY committing this crime.

PULLMAN, WA. -- A member of a traveling comedy show is accused of drugging and raping a woman while in Pullman for a weekend performance.

Clayton Thomas, 23, is in the Whitman County Jail, arrested Sunday for 3rd Degree Rape and Felony Witness Intimidation.

Police say Thomas, part of the New Jack Cities Comedy Troupe, was booked to perform at Washington State University for Mom's Weekend.

According to investigators, Thomas and the 20-year-old alleged victim, a WSU student, met Friday night and exchanged telephone information.

Investigators say the Thomas and the woman met again Saturday night at an event, and the alleged rape took place in a vehicle.

Police say the woman claims she was slipped a date-rape drug, and that she did not give consent for any sexual activity. The woman claims she was brought back to the event by Thomas, and then taken to Pullman Regional Hospital by friends.

Thomas was arrested Sunday on rape and intimidation charges. The woman claims Thomas threatened her if she reported the assault.

Thomas told investigators the encounter was consensual.
