That would've also been the case had he been convicted of a crime prior to becoming the POTUS since he was a rich, white man with connections years before he entered politics.

The skeptic in me wonders if they have any intention of trying to win any of these legal arguments and are instead simply using the court system as a dog whistle to indirectly incite and rile up the January 6th MAGA/Qanon crowd against the establishment.
Obviously, that's too cerebral for Trump and he isn't thinking that far ahead but his lawyers continued incompetence makes that scenario more logical than what we're seeing from them.
