The Devil knows more by being old than he does by being the Devil"

Not to be caught up with titles and appearances. His title doesn't equal ability. Just because he is the devil don't underestimate his experience and knowledge.

Thats a nice quote where does it come from?

good insight Mello

Being old exposes one to years of learning thus whatever intelligence you may have by your nature can be expanded by your exposure to new and exciting adventures, encounters, circumstances, paradigms, relationships and yes even heartaches. When you have been there seeing there happen in front of you becomes easier and easier. Eventually one almost becomes supernatural in their ability to predict outcomes based on past results.

I was intruding upon a conversation between and young&older cats...both seemed up to no good...but I was impressed with the wisdom...the older cat was dropping...and it quote just came to mind.

I chop it up with a lot of old heads too. Intelligence and wisdom are definitely two different things.

If you haven't already check out this flick its very good.

 Thats one that will stick with me from now on.

To elaborate a little bit further on the devil bit. Being that the Devil has supposedly been around since the beginning of time this would make him a master deceiver. He has lived through the centuries enough to predict human behavior has not changed since the old days.

it's a good quote but actually the devil doesn't exist in a dimension where time is a factor.

with time comes experience. experience the world morph, mutate. experience society change. experience people change. being old allows you to see that and adapt accordingly.

Great interpretation
I really like that quote. I may use it at some point. :D

the old devil has an intuition to address a situation by applying what was gained in a previous experience of pain/pleasure/victory or just saving one's skin. Reach out to a devil if you are struck in inertia.

co-sign the devil is a spirit....

Time in seconds, minutes, hours, days and/or years is a natural or physical thing.

If it wasn't I would ask you how old, in years, is the devil? You can't answer that he's a spirit...

Just my thoughts....

What does it mean the pham? Let's discuss...

I look at it another way, it was his age in the first place that made him the devil. I think you have to go back and look at the context for the idea of the devil. In the garden of eden, humankind was created by God, who provided humanity paradise for as long as they remained ignorant to any understanding outside of what God told them. The devil, being old enough to have traded ignorance for his own understanding, provided that alternative understanding to humanity.

He became the devil because he provided a second understanding for the world that was different from the understanding provided by God. Put it another way, the word is God, and the devil is the anti-word because his understanding and wisdom was different from that of God.

So everything that makes the devil the devil is due to the fact that he and God are the only adults in the world; all the rest of us are children. Kind of like how a true leader isn't labeled, only recognized for existing leadership. In that same fashion, it wasn't the label of devil that created the power. Rather, the age and alternate wisdom created the power that was labeled devil.

And yet despite his experience and years he's still stuck on a path that will eventually lead to his destruction. A foolish thing for any being, human or otherwise.

Taking this analogy further, this demonstrates that knowledge must be combined with proper direction in order to become wisdom.
