The Americans: The 2nd best espionage/spy show on TV

Man I actually feel sorry for Paige. This has to be tough. Her response is so realistic. She want's to help out, but she doesn't know how.

man they finally caught on to the mail robot.... the walls are really closing in now

man now Stan knows about the Russian interest in biological weapons. Man.... I don't know if I can make it two seasons. This tension is almost unbearable.

Ughhhh......The FBI is right on their heels.

Dont if Paige is really feeling matthew or she all in for the cause. Probably a little of both but she is effectively using matthew as an asset getting info on the martha investigation and Beeman working overtime

Solid season this year. Hoping that the son gets some real burn next year. Would hate to see him be another Walt Jr.

Paige thinkin she part of the squad. Lmaooo

She is.
She knows their secret.
Keeps tabs on assets.
Has to cover for them when they are MIA.
Just waiting for her to catch a body and then she'll be all in. Lol.

In all honesty Phil and Elizabeth are trying to have it both ways. They chose this life, have had training and experience. Paige trying to figure it out on the fly whlie getting mixed messages

I don't even make regular comments in this thread no more because this is like a living breathing spy novel.

I just gotta sit back and enjoy the show

Aint nothing really to say

the level of excellence these people have achieved is remarkable

and a message to all of Hollywood...

You know how ya'll keep saying it so hard to write for women?

You need to go ahead and study

NOT BINGE

this entire series

fill a Brinks truck full of cash...

and Marvel/Disney need to BEG PLEAD and KOWTOW at these people's feet

and ask them to to write, direct and produce the big screen Black Widow movie (and potential Netflix series), the next season of Jessica Jones and consult on Agent Carter and Agents of Shield and for Black Panther 2 when he becomes an international man of action.

thank me later

WE are Wakanda
Welcome to Wakanda
All Praise the Panther god
"I don't care."

Ya'll keep sleeping on Henry if ya like...

go back and read my prediction from a few seasons back

I stand by it.

Holly Taylor...

your an amazing actress captivating top notch your portrayal of Paige is so complete its amazing, Your line readings, the expressions, your chemistry with the cast

a master class

that being said

lawd I want the slap the flavor out ya mouth.

or just get geechiedan on the show for the final two seasons..playing the new neighbor who friends with Matthew's family, and they end up having a "misunderstanding" type situation

The tragic part is Henry would probably be a dope ass spy if they paid more attention to him. He'd probably hack into Stan's life and have him open up about everything and tell them all the details and think nothing of it. If they actually acknowledged he was alive.

Man the moment Henry finally gets in on the secret will be the moment I'll finally... use this gif..

Henry's relationship with Stan is going to end up being their downfall. I just feel that the showrunners have been pulling the long game with Henry all these seasons. Barely having him in the background, barely part of the story... but they always drop in reminders to show that Stan has been a better father to Henry then Phillip. There is going to be some kind of conversation between Stan and Henry that is going to set the match to the powderkeg and I know what it will be..... That gawd damn necklace that Philip gave Martha back in Season 1 that Stan found at Martha's apartment. Since it was originally Elizabeths ... then Henry would have seen it.

She had the exact wrong reaction to what happened. She's questioning her mom like did you have to do that?
Elizabeth should've been real. "No would it have been better for me to get stabbed and then both of us raped? that would help you feel better?"

But her reactions are real.... Neither parent actually explained what they do on these missions and they never said they actually kill people. In fact I think Paige asked them this when she found out and they both told her no. Then to see your Mom not just kill someone, but to kill without emotions and violently. That would be alot to take it. I do love Elizabeth's response to her questions though. I also love how Paige just accepted her Moms answers and moved on like it didn't really phase her.

The problem that I foresee next year is that the centre is definitely going to make a play for Paige next season. Especially now that she knows. I wonder if Phillip and Elizabeth are putting this down in their reports. I know Phillip wouldn't, but Elizabeth would do this shit.

my dream theory...

Henry will join the FBI as Stan as his guide...

and be a double agent.

We gonna have to recognize FX has been and might have been the HBO of basic cable.

Actually could it have been BETTER than hbo in recent history?

The Shield, Rescue Me, The Americans, SOA, Archer, It's always sunny, the bridge, American horror story & crime story.
Never that - GoT + Ballers + Boardwalk + Wire + Entourage + Curb Your Enthusiasm + True Detective + Hung + Rome + Newsroom etc...

:itsawrap:

But the real competition for FX is AMC - did you see the pilot for Preacher?
I'm surprised no one made a thread yet

she's a dense child. its the real reaction of a teenager who just ain't built for that life. she's way too naive to be anything or do anything. and she's too old to be as naive as she is imo.
as soon as they said they were actually russian spy's that should have meant that all of it was on the table. there is no such thing as a lite spy. you in the game or you not is what should have been on her mind. they always gone. they making moves at night and shit. of course they do some dangerous shit, nothing good happens at 1am. im speaking from a teen standpoint too.
to this point your parents tell you to bring your ass home don't be out late because of all the danger lurking. now you know for a fact your parents are spies and they're always out when that danger you are supposed to be sheltered from is lurking. how do they stay safe?

first off you can't pull out The Wire in ANY discussion...not fair

Deadwood is greatness and I would argue, Justified is the the direct result. so that is a wash.

But Not so fast

you can't be putting one and done series on there!!!

I gotta compare dates...

but you cannot deny the run FX been on and how FEW flops they had.

Ballers too new and isn't as groundbreaking

True Detective ESSENTIALLY was one and done...Hung got cancelled after what 2 maybe 3 seasons? so was Rome...and Newsroom didn't have a rabid loyal following...

the FX series were long running and genre defining and some of the BEST not just GOOD I mean the BEST series in modern TV.

Yeah but you have to remember things were different in the time period that this show is based in. Everyone was Naive back then and this spy thing was still fairly new. She can only go off what her parents are telling her and this is the first time in her entire life that her parents are starting to open up to her. I don't know how I would respond as kid if my mom just told me that she was a spy and everything I thought about my family was a lie. Oh and my mom just killed someone without breaking a sweat. Let's also factor that her parents are making her maintain a relationship with the Jennings and report back to them without really explaining why. All of this has to be a lot for kid growing up in a world where tensions between Russia and America were extremely high.
