Tesla ordered $16k worth of baked goods from Black owned Bakery then cancelled the order on them.

Can someone explain this:

How is not paying for the original order not included in "making things right"?

If she charges an extra $8,000 for each event she'll make up for the last order, have two more gigs under her belt, and hopefully turn this crisis into a misunderstanding. If all goes well she gains a lucrative contract and Tesla saves face with their other caterers.

If nothing else, this story proves that her bakery is capable of pumping out 4,000 pies at the last minute. I'm sure she's earned a lot of extra business because of it.

Elon is a racist fuck, but I doubt he handles Tesla's party planning. He probably didn't even know they were having one. Big companies usually leave these decisions to the minions.

Actions like that are representative of the company and a bad look, including the empty promise, PR wise. Shitty business practices like that typically start at the top, whether the owner is involved in a particular incident or not.

Elon doesn't have a history of stiffing people.

Considering this went from a large order, to a double order, to a cancelled event I believe that either someone dropped the ball or there was a miscommunication. That could also explain why the bakery submitted multiple invoices without response.

Either way, this caused a lot damage to the company's reputation and relationship with other vendors. I would guess that policies have been changed and people have been fired.

Seems like a fuck up waiting to happen since it will look like she's padding the bills on the current orders.

Forget Elon. The bad PR could have easily been avoided.

I agree.

Nobody said why the event got canceled, but if Tesla had outsourced it to a third party they would have taken care of any obstacle that came up. They would have also known how much food they needed well in advance.

Most important, the vendors would have known who to send the invoices to rather than go through the bureaucratic maze.

However, the fact that Giving Pies still doesn't have a confirmation on two events less than 10 days from now suggests Tesla hasn't learned from this mistake.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The community is giving back to The Giving Pies.

On Saturday a line of customers stretched out the door.

San Jose resident Vickie Ngui wanted to show her support.

"I felt bad that she lost a lot of money. So I just want her to know that we as a community we will help her out where we can," Ngui said.

News spread about what happened on Valentine's Day.

My questions are: did she confirm this was really a Tesla employee, did she receive a deposit and what will she do differently for large orders moving forward?

Elon doesn't have a history of stiffing people.

He has refused to pay rent, private flights, and about 500 mil in severance pay. I think most of those were rectified, but he's been sued. He's.known for being cheap and making changes to cut money that come back to bite him in the ass because he doesn't understand all the components of twitter and how they work together.

This is not a repayment. $2,000 out of $16,000 is nothing. Tesla cost them the other $14,000 for the time they could have spent making orders for paying customers. I hope a lawyer takes their case pro bono.

The bold part is what's in play here. Like I said before, a company large as Tesla shouldn't handle their own events. It's one thing if the accounting department wants to organize a bowling night, but anything that involves 4,000 pies needs a third party.

Even if it was a Tesla employee, did they know what they were talking about?

He is currently being sued for not paying the rent for the Twitter building.

Lot of fuckin' racists as Tesla starting with Elon Musk and I wouldn't doubt the order was made then canceled on purpose because it was for Black History Month.. With an order that large why didn't the bakery owner ask for a non refundable deposit up front.? :dunno:

I had a Tiffany Henyard ambush me coming out of a store looking crazy. I heard her business is booming now because of all the publicity, you can make money building a business and not chasing after me being a nuisance, tricking for white supremacist.

Twitter signed a long-term lease when the real estate market was white hot. When Musk took over it had cooled quite a bit. He tried to renegotiate at market rate and the landlord refused. That's what the lawsuit is really about.

For comparison, suppose your dad died and you inherit his house. You find out that he hired a landscaping company that padded the bill and didn't provide all the services they promised. You confront the company and their reply is "listen pal, your dad signed a 2-year contract right before he croaked. A deal is a deal so pay up!"

Would you still pay that bill? If you didn't, would it mean that you stiffed the landscaping company?

How many times have you renegotiated your rent before the lease was up?
