Definitely disagree lol
But! You BEEN sayin this type shit just ain’t for you. That’s all good. (Truth be told - shit ain’t for me EITHER!)

but, You respect the hustle.(likewise)
You give the props.(same)
and, You not tryna pitch fork mob the nigga or shit on folks who do enjoy lol (for the most part hahaha)
These flicks don’t NEED to have a story line in the way you mean - but all 3 of these do
Don’t NEED to have narrative arcs - but again all 3 actually do!
These type flicks don’t need to make no type of any sense — that was a WILD sentence to retype btw lmfao
As you imply - gore core audiences will fuck with them regardless;
but again, all of the 3 terrifier flicks absolutely are easy to distinguish from most anything I’ve ever seen on par - budget/concept wise
The terrifier short (2011) which, compared to any of the 3 features, is much more like a no budget flick is supposed to be… even that also still makes some type of sense; and, when I saw it - was clear to me why it stood out enough from others in the genre that are gore fwd and very little more story set acting etc wise than the barest justification for gettin off their practical fx - which Leone also does better than most - to where it got genre fans talking it up
Cause like you said - “nobody” watches these movies for all that (I only checked this shit out bec it was being talked about like it’s different/better/elevated etc) and I went in hella skeptical and was pleasantly surprised
From what I’ve seen in flicks and interviews etc and what I’ve read, Leone is wildly committed to finding the balance between satisfying himself as a storyteller/filmmaker AND satisfying his fans, while growing the base and expanding the scope and reach to find connections for/with new audiences.
But whatever new shit I’ve seen so far, from the shorts… to the features… and from T1… to 2 and now to T3, all the unique pieces are present, right from the flash fwd that starts Terrifier 1 and then bookends it AND Terrifier 2.
He’s digging in his bag (the shit he’s already put on screen) and building it out as canon for Art/Art’s world in a way that is intentional and I think w/4 and maybe even 5… dude can take it to some uncharted territory both in story and setting and character mythology.
I try to look at shit like this from perspective of would this shit work without the gore?
And what I found is that some of it is actually BETTER because of the gore! Story wise. Characters wise. And that’s new for me OR super rare. Definitely in what I’ve seen of this type of “nobody goes to these movies for all that” sub genre shit. [I hate to name drop but the og 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre does come to mind in terms of the gore/comedy/grounded no budget production value lunacy]
Like I said, when it comes to what I’ve seen of this sub genre, mostly everything is window dressing FOR the gore and fx in these type movies regardless of budget.
I’m in for the ride with Leone and Art tho. Cause to me — Woo boy! They GOT the goods haha
And shit - Ice and Coco approve!
