The case is likely very strong. Just in order to get a wiretap , the feds had to tip their hand a little with solid evidence to a judge and that judge agreed. The burden is MUCH higher to even get one of those approved. It's not like trying to get a search warrant.
Although he's locked up, it isn't real yet because the trial hasn't started. As previously stated, there is NO such thing as a weak fed case. There's a reason they have a conviction rate north of 90%.
