Taylor should have stayed off of the ropes and turned towards pavliks right hand AND/OR got rid of him when he had him hurt!:smh:

Taylor has several poor habits as a boxer. He backs himself in corners and drops his left hand constantly. These habits lead to getting caught by a hard hitter like Pavlik. Also, when Pavlik was hurt, he took an 8 count and did what he had to to get out of the round. Taylor gets hurt and backs in a corner (same bad habit). Got caught with some uppercuts but doesn't just go down and take an 8 count like he has some sense. He slumps in the corner and forces the ref to stop the fight.:smh: What the fuck. How hard is it to keep his left hand up. If his left hand had been up, that right hand that landed flush and rocked him would have been partially blocked and much less effective. Emanuel Steward is gonna be done with this ninja because he can't listen. Emanuel has been telling him to stay out of the corners and to keep his left hand up for the last couple of fights.

On another note:

Anybody notice how HBO used to support/hype Taylor so much. As soon as the first round was over, they put up the HBO scorecards: Pavlik 10, Taylor 9 (The round was scored correct IMO).

Anybody notice how he was stuttering when asked was Pavlik the hardest hitting fighter he had ever faced.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::D:yes::dance:

It was a pretty good fight and Pavlik won just like I told people he would.

JT has always had a problem stuttering. They give him hell on the MaxBoxing and DogHouseBoxing forums.

Anytime his name is mentioned, J-J-J-Jermain T-T-T-Taylor is posted.

Hey man tell the truth, how did you feel in the 2nd round? Did you think your 1500 was gone? I was pulling for an upset. I just felt it until the 2nd round. I want to see the rematch. I'm not paying pay per view for it. I'm not sure about paying to see the Mayweather/Hatton fight and I really want to see that one.

I wasn't worried one bit. I put a lot of stock in a guy getting knocked down and getting back up to win. Pavlik's done it three times already. I even bumped the bet with a friend between rounds.

I don't think there's anyone out there that can beat this white boy and he's only 25. Boxing is officially dead.

Also he needs to stay the fuck off the ropes. In previous fights that's what his trainer always told him. Now I gottta listen to "GREAT WHITE HYPE " bullshit!:smh::smh::smh::angry::angry::angry:

oh you KNOW white boys gonna be talkin shit come monday a.m. at the water cooler.

i've already gotten calls from some of my co-workers about both the college games today AND JT's fucked up loss.

oh well.[/QUOTE]

yep :lol::lol::lol:

Quit looking for the heavys to entertain you. It's always been the "little" guys who put on the better skilled fights.

True.

But heavyweights used to have GREAT fight back when they would be in shape Holyfield, Tyson, Lewis etc, now the division is pretty sloppy except for Klitchkow(sp) and Shannon Briggs who should just quit boxing and be a pro bodybuilder.

Thanks for the drop "the13thround"

The only great period in Heavyweight and Light-Heavyweight history was the 70's. Outside of the Bowe-Holyfield trilogy, the 90's weren't all that great either for the big men.

You got the great Jack Johnson and his rule of fighting only white fighters as champion. (Sam McVey, Joe Jeanette, and Sam Langford never got title shots)

You got the great Jack Dempsey going way too many months between defenses.

You got musical chairs with the title in the early 30's.

You got the late 30's/early 40's with the great Joe Louis and his bum of the month club.

The old folk late 40's and early 50's (greats Ezzard Charles and Joe Walcott).

Undefeated great Marciano fighting the past their prime former champs.

The Greatest's (Ali) first reign. (Over half were Liston's former victims)

The void of The Greatest (Ali) for 3 1/2 years and HW tournament to establish a "paper" champ (Jimmy Ellis vs. Joe Frazier).

Ali's return and reclaim of the title (against Foreman). Greatest era in Heavyweight boxing history. (Joe Frazer, Ken Norton, Jerry Quarry, Ron Lyle, Earnie Shavers, Jimmy Young, Jimmy Ellis, etc., etc., etc.)

The vacuum of Ali leaving, the rise of a true professional in Larry Holmes, and musical chairs again with the other alphabet titles.

The flash in the pan of Mike Tyson. Exciting with the KO's, but against who? We saw what happened when someone wasn't afraid of him.

Holyfield. Probably P4P, the biggest balls in HW history.

Bowe. Ate himself out of the title.

Holyfield again.

The rise of the lion, Lennox Lewis, establishing his dominance and aging like fine wine. Defeated every opponent he ever faced.

Current American based HW champ? Playing in the NFL.

the #1 lesson boxing and in life:

when you think you're the baddest mufucka out there, keep looking, cause there's somebody out there, somewhere, waiting, that can/will kick your mufuckin ass.

white boy ain't invincible. he's tough, he's tall, he's lanky with some skills, but he can be DISMANTLED by a good boxer/puncher that can finish. he moves straight ahead but will likely struggle against someone that pushes him back with a good jab.

Who is this current American Heavy Weight Champ playing in the NFL??

Only person I see giving Pavlik trouble is Arthur Abraham. Ol' block head MF'er. Maybe Andy Lee down the road.

I'm of the thought, the lower you get on the economic totem pole, the more a MF'er will want to beat your ass. There's an Amazonian tribesman, who has no idea what something simple like a match is, ready to beat everyone's ass.

Cory Spinks would outbox this dude but everyone would complain it was a boring fight.

Same with Winky.

Jermain isnt a boxer or a puncher....He's just a bitch.

From watchin previous Pavlik fights, I thought he would win because he is a better technical fighter. But once the fight started Taylor was clearly stronger than Pavlik, Taylor punched with Winky for 12 rounds, also in his last fight with the African cat, Taylor punched strong the full 12 rounds. But with Pavlik, he did'nt punch. I feel Taylor threw the fight, why, I have no idea, but to guess, him being a southern Black man, maybe all the "******s" he was being called by the whites in the front row may have got to em. If that is the case, he needed a Jack Johnson philosophy, the more they called him 'nigga' the harder he'd hit that whiteboy.

Who is this current American Heavy Weight Champ playing in the NFL??

It's meant as a joke in boxing circles.

However, a lot of boxing gyms have closed in the last 10 to 15 years? No better example than Las Vegas itself. Two, the US Amateur system is in shambles. Three, boxing equipment costs money. What do you think is cheaper? A football, basketball or two sets of gloves, headgear, hand wraps, shoes, cup and protector, etc. Lastly, how many boxing athletic scholarships do you think are out there? Off the top of my head is the Naval Academy, Yale and N. Michigan U. (Coach Al Mitchell and former 154lb champ David Reid).

By the way, baseball is suffering the same problems when it comes to black participation.
