Tariq Nasheed vs. Tucker Carlson 11/29

Right that's why you deal with what they say and hold them to that. If something they say sounds racist it's best to hold them on that than to blatantly call them a racist, it strengthens your position against them. Because when you call them a racist you are giving them a way out. Then they can deny lie or whatever because you don't know them personally to say that. Then you end up looking stupid when they pull out the magic black friend from their hat.

No calling them a racist is too easy when folk don't know the true meaning of how racism is applied.. However you can call them bigots that's gets under their skin..

To be a racist means you have the ability to deny financial and educational opportunities for the sole purpose of having the wrong skin color..

See I don't call these inbred yokels racist they dont have that power to deny me an opportunity but the cacs who hold the power to hire to approve loans to approve leases those are the racist

Tariq took a big L. He was ill prepared and fell right into the Fix news trap. As someone stated, they are a proproganda organization. They carefully select who will be on that show and their goal is to misdirect. They don't care about truth. Their goal is to speak to their audience. He should have gone on with his talking points and stayed on message. He even fed into the Fix news narrative of reverse racism by calling him a white supremacist especially after he said Tariq's show was the most racist he has ever heard. Fail on all levels. You have to be on top of your game with prepared points to go on Fix. One night's prep won't cut it either. You better have a script with all the appropriate sound bites etc.
Exactly.

First they had him because really his tweet was some bullshit AS READ. Now his deeper meaning was lost because he wasn't able to present it - and that is HIS FAULT. They had him on there defending an INDEFENSIBLE position: cop shoots nut with knife. That is NOT the hill you want to fight and die on!.

But Tariq's REAL point was how the white racist and Fox News are trying to tie terrorist to race and Black Live Matter etc. by racializing the Somalian's color (good point).

Here what he should have done (if he insisted on appearing on this bullshit show in the first place, which he shouldn't):

When they asked him about the tweet he should have said:" Well Tucker, I didn't mean I word of that - I just wanted your attention; I know you figured you'd get me on here talking crazy about hero cops and race but I know your game and I decided to play you too - I just wanted to get on here to tell you some of us know about your attempts to racialize terrorism so that you can start calling black protesters terrorist; Just be aware we know about it. Thank you for the forum. I'm done. (get up and leave)

The problem is he stayed on the defense and could not get on the offense. The format is tailor made to do just that.
He was never going to win.

I don't know why people can't see this. No one here likes Fox News. We all know they're a racist pro republican channel. Having said that, having known that, Tariq should know shouting "white supremacist" is not the smart away to go about it.

It played directly into the narrative that Fox News wanted: "Angry black man calls white man racist." If he came better prepared with irrefutable facts, rather than getting baited into the bullshit that Fox News propagate, he would've come out on top.

Instead he came off as emotional and flustered.

Again, I like the work Tariq does, you'll never see me defend any racists but Tariq didn't come out well from this.

Tariq went up against a team and not just Tucker. They reviewed the tapes like a coach/boxer before fighting their opponent.
Some people are not that quick on their feet. Say what yall want about AL Shaprton. I ain't never seen him take an L.

That was a fair analysis. To the casual observer the critique might appear biased against Tariq, since Angel mentioned him the most. But I'm hearing someone who would like to have seen Tariq own Tucker Carlson, and was disappointed that it didn't turn out that way.

This is my 4th time watching the debate video. Notice the difference between the two men in speech pattern, pacing and body language. The host, though an asshole, was calm, focused and collected. Tariq was clearly extremely nervous, which manifested in many of his responses that were blurted out. There's no win here for him.

I could see Umar, Michael Eric Dyson, Roland Martin or Van Jones DESTROYING this cracka scum. Tariq was out of his element here.

He summed it up beginning at the 10:30 mark, where he said that Tariq is no intellectual leader; he was just good at consolidating the information of other scholars with the Hidden Colors documentary. This has been my primary critique of many so-called hoteps. They can spit out the research and knowledge of true scholars, but when questioned themselves, their lack of critical thinking skills becomes readily apparent. You'll even see it on this board. When people can't respond on an intellectual level, they will quickly resort to ad hominem attacks (cac, faggot, 'have you posted in the hand thread').

I noticed this as well.

Usually Tariq is laid back and more focused in debates. The last time I heard him this nervous was when he went against Pearl Jr. years ago.

Overall, it doesnt take away from Tariq's accomplishments though. The Hidden Colors series alone is iconic.

Another thing is, the debate is just another reason the Black community needs their own grass roots media platform, so we can have the home advantage when conducting interviews and debates..

I admit that I'm not a fan of Tariq's. I think he is in it for the money. He's a hustler. He knows the buzzwords. He knows what his audience wants to hear. It's just like how he came on the scene in the first place.

People are looking at this 'debate' like the guy isn't hustler. Hustlers will get exposed when outside their element, but their followers eat the shit up. We've seen this formula too much.

Yep. Absolutely a win for them. Not with you or any of Tariq's audiences. Fox gives zero fucks about you and them. Their goal was this: show black man with Muslim name attacking white hero - put BLACK LIVES MATTER under his face. Drop Mic.

After they did that they won WITH THEIR AUDIENCE. Do you think they cared about anything else??! He played into their hands. He believes his own hype about how wise and adept he is (some of you too I guess). Fox News isn't about truth or debate. It's about PROPAGANDA. They just used him for their propaganda EXACTLY as they wanted. He didn't stop them. He played their stooge in this. When they called he should have said : "you are not a news organization; I only appear on legitimate news." Then hung up.

But he couldn't resist the urge to appear on TV and he actually believes his own hype as a "great debater". He wasn't smart enough to get fox's hustle: they aren't about debate - this was a visual propaganda "angry Blackman with BLACK LIVES MATTER under his name". They played him so well they will probably ask him back! They couldn't have hired an actor to do better.

He, however, will never admit he got played because in his mind he is "the king of game". He will do a podcast announcing how he "destroyed a suspected white supremacist ". Blah blah blah...

Nope. He got used by master propagandists. Done. Next time just say no.

They round here talkin bout "winning" a debate and missing the big picture. Ain't NO nigga going on FOX news to win shit. This nigga just got tagged by them crackas. He already got the FBI visiting him and sniffing around where he lives. Trump and his boys next move is to tie niggas in with ISIS. They talkin bout locking up "terrorist sympathizers" off the rip. They going thru all Tariq vids and shit. Why da fuck would he speak out on this shit in the first place?

They done tagged him with BLACK LIVES MATTER and next they gonna tag that as a terrorist org.

And there it is. That's what this is all about. Nothing to do with the actual video. Just more jealousy. Just so all of you "Tariq lost" dudes know, Tariq has explicitly said that he doesn't consider himself part of the "conscious community". He's a just a dude who reads and put them together for his documentary. But all you dudes still call him hotep. You're trying to make him into some type of Jesus that he's said on several occasions he isn't. He also said he doesn't want people pinning him as a leader. But you "Tariq lost" dudes still want him to be Jesus. He gained publicity and he exposed Fox News live on the air for the fraud they are. Mission accomplished.

Though he is right, we must be fair. It's easy to say what he should have said after the fact (with unlimited and uninterrupted time) and I doubt this guy would have done any better.
Yet it was a very disappointing display of how Tariq says one should handle these white supremacist. He better sharping up on his debate skills because the wolfs are coming now.
He reminded me of Mos Def on Bill Maher show.

Still..you can't just avoid these folks. You have to be ready to go at them. Malcolm did it, Martin did it, Sharpton does it, etc.......
If you aint about that life. Then just don't do it and let others do what they do. Tariq was also trying too hard to come off as an intellectual.

I just listened to another interview Tariq did and I feel like why bother arguing or debating with these CACS? All they gonna do is try to spin it and make Tariq look like the crazy militant black guy. Or maybe putting the fire under they ass and calling them out is needed too. I dunno

If there was money in waking up Black people then Jason Black or Claude Anderson would be household names then.

Nothing to do with the actual video??? Practically every response, including mine, has been about Tariq's lackluster performance against Tucker Carlson.

So Tariq doesn't want to be called "conscious" or "hotep," yet he makes numerous podcasts and DVDs concerning history and sociology pertaining to African-Americans? This is "conscious" territory. He talks a lot of "Moorish" shit and has an app called "MoorUs," yet he doesn't want to be called a Moor. He doesn't want to be called a leader, either, but often speaks about the need for black people to have a "code of conduct", goes around the country giving "lectures", and otherwise talks about what black people need to do. This is assuming the mantle of a leader. Not to mention, he has been personally critical of OTHER black people who have gotten on national media outlets and have been inarticulate with their words. I specifically recall him criticizing Benjamin Crump's appearances on mainstream media outlets as well as BLM members who got in front of Hillary Clinton and had nothing to say.

Just admit that Tariq dropped the ball with this interview. He totally lost the narrative and violated his own tenets about how to perform on mainstream media outlets.

Isn't he also the creator of Melanoid Nation?

This would have been the straight forward, intelligent, strategic way of getting his message across. But Tariq enjoys lounging in studio green rooms, rubbing shoulders with famous people and being mentioned as a leading this or expert that. The minute you use trickery or deception to get time on a national stage you get discredited and you're never invited back. Tariq likes his celebrity too much to do that for the cause.

Man,

Niggas going harder on Tariq than they are Tucker Carlson.

Neely Fuller, Frances Welsing, Elka Baker and Amos Wilson all talked about black people bickering amongst themselves while at the same time opposing the white man.

According to the Compensatory code system concept, all non-white people are entitled to what's called, victims' guaranteed qualifications, meaning that none of us are qualified to lead each other under a system of white supremacy, therefore every non-white person is entitled to stating their opinion/assessment of the system.

Therefore, we have no reason to bicker and tear down the next man if we're following the code. Really, we shouldn't be having this conversation if nothing constructive is coming out of it.

Or the latest one "not being on code"

Fox did to Tariq what VladTV did to Umar Johnson...

Im here to tell you that none of that is by coincidence...

Those White Psuedo-intellectuals have a way with twisting words and making Black people seem crazy, when in fact they are the sane ones...

Somebody been doing they homework.

Shut the thread down

I swear i was just about to type this.

He let her off too soft cause he is trying to actually answer the questions.

the questions are there to create a narrative

Not to provide answers

So you have to be quick on your toes to undermine the messaging

Don't know why we still struggle with these types of interviews

Respectfully,

We don't give two shits about Tucker Carlson. He isn't worthy of deep analysis.

Tariq is one of us. He's our brother. To a great degree he represents us. So of course we're going to discuss his performance.

The only ones in this thread who initiated bickering were the ones who were offended when other people's comments on Tariq were not praising him. They only want to hear positive comments. Even if he did poorly in the debate, they want everyone to say, "Tariq won!", "Tariq took that cac to school!", and the like. If anyone in this thread said otherwise, his acolytes have labeled them as, "misinformed", "stupid", "bi-polar", "haters", "jealous" and the like. Those critiquing Tariq have not been name calling their fellow BGOL black men. For the most part, they haven't been name-calling Tariq either. Let's be clear.

This is a discussion board. It's not North Korea where everyone has to subscribe to groupthink. We analyze those who claim to rep us, because we damn sure better! From discussion and back and forth comes learning, expanded world views, improved tools of communication and negotiating a course within this cursed white supremacist society.

Like they used to have on the commercials when I was a kid, Reading Is Fundamental. Education is essential. When you have your facts on hand, when you have done your reading, when you are informed with thoroughness, when you have your names, dates and places on the ready - you have the intellectual resources to go toe-to-toe with anybody. This is why people like John Henrik Clarke and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing were so awesome in debates.

You're right about the ad-hominem attacks. And then when you counter them with facts, logic and intellect they get ghost.
