They are all parents—plenty of rotten-ass kids from two-parent homes. Growing up, some of the worst kids in my neighborhood were from middle-class, two-parent homes. It was the exception then. Now kids are fucked up, and when you meet the parents, they are just grown-up versions of their shithead kids. Too many phones in the classroom. No kid should have a cell phone and can't tie his shoes. Yet I know for a fact this goes on. I have family that have been teaching for years.
Fuck this dude. He was cursed at birth with a name like Aquavius and the only thing that will happen is he'll grow to be a bigger problem in a few years. Terrorizing the neighborhood breaking in people houses, knocking old people and women upside the head. I don't care what the teacher did he's wrong on several accounts. Number one having the vape, disrespecting a teacher, putting hands on the teacher.
I don't know about other dudes but I don't mentor other peoples kids. Like my grandmother used to say "I wasn't there when you were making them and I'm not going to be there to help you save them."

Adults job is work, kid's job is school. That's what I was told and I resisted it too at his age, but that's what it is.
Somewhere along the way he got it in his mind he can do whatever he wants or doesn't have to do the hard things in life. That will be broken for him one way or the other.

Yeah people are switching things around, we can't even have vape pens outside the smoke area at my job, you can get suspended for it so I know those kids can't have them in school. The student was testing the teacher by even having it in the classroom, when the teacher took it from he snaps and slaps her I think two times
