Street Boxing wow

My cousins and I use to box each other in the house.
Them body-blows hurt different lol

One of my best friends growing up was a complete hothead. Ready to fight at the drop of a dime (friends included). I was taller and more athletic than him, but this kid could FIGHT. Made a few mistakes growing up rough housing, and I was lucky he didn't knock my teeth out. Kid was throwing body shots, hooks, uppercuts, you name it. Needless to say he's had legal troubles the past 25 years (drugs, robberies, etc), and pulled a gun on his dad in his early-20s. His dad had to pay off hitmen that were out to kill his son, etc. They were deadly serious.

More jabs and pivoting needed.
Too many wild haymakers.
I was showing my sons how to pivot. A good jab and pivot will take out most non-boxing types. My oldest has been boxing as a part of his offseason.
They got wraps, gloves, headgear, and no mouthpiece. :smh: I was like negro, your mom is going to kill both of us if you lose a tooth fucking around. All that money fixing your grill down the drain. He has recently got a mouthpiece but his potnahs don't.:smh:

Props on making sure he got the mouthpiece. Def' encourage him to get his friends to do the same.

Damn. I hate hearing shit like that.
Violence among immediate families.
But once drugs get involved.
It's a wrap.
Thanks for sharing...
I'm glad he didn't knock yo' teeth out too.

Thanks. Yeah man - over 25 year drug addiction at this point. Jail and prison stints. He sabotaged his detox and treatment programs along the way. Didn't think he needed the help like others did. Not as sick as them. Yeah - I'm glad my teeth are still intact. Muthafucka hit hard. Accurate!

Regarding pulling the gun on his dad. Crazy story. Got into an argument in the kitchen and ended up firing the gun (as a threat) and the bullet ricocheted into a cabinet and down into the basement suite. Luckily the tenants weren't home. His late grandma used to live down there. Police were called and blocked off their street. Dad and the girlfriend ran for cover & had to yell to police not to shoot, as they were running for safety away from him. Dad said it was beyond upsetting.

Much respect to you and yours.
Beautiful fatherly example.

Keep mom uninformed about the roughness of boxing.
If not, it's gonna a whole bunch of "oh my poor baby".

COTDAMN!!!

I was just thinking about their street too. Fairly quiet overall. Really steep front driveway (i.e. - can't get up it during challenging weather - leave your car at the top). Plus, it's sort of a fishbowl feel too. Across the street is higher up and front living rooms look down to the main street. Trying to picture his dad in his 50s then (with same-aged girlfriend) sprinting up that hill in a panic after being shot at. Crazy, man. Imagine being a downstairs tenant (if they were home) having a bullet pierce through your ceiling. WTF?!

Agreed.
I support the gloves not guns solution.

Co-sign. Loved hearing stories from dad and uncles about the fights they had back in the day against their foes at high school, or on other teams. I think my dad's best one was some guys trying to break into the family home. He was probably 18 - 20. He caught them in the act ... chased them down the street and one guy hid under a car. Dad pulled him out & shit-kicked him on someone's lawn. Dad was like - "well, the adrenaline was pumping ..."

Fam you already know. I told him if he comes home with unjustifiable marks on his face I am coming clean. So far so good. The dudes he is boxing against are flailers but I told him that any one could get lucky.
