Stephen A. Smith.... Lonzo Ball.. Petrified....

His form is horrible but my biggest issue is, he can fucking shoot! I understand the NBA is a different game but damn!

A person who "Can't shoot" doesn't take those shots. He just needs to find his rhythm.

NBA players close out too fast on defense. He doesn't have the same space to shoot such an unorthodox shot.

Who's Y'all?!?! I don't know where YOU got that from. My names not Lavar Fam... I'm not trying to mix in with you chief, mellow and don't get upset. We're talking basketball here, nothing personal...

Also, their is a LOT if if in your sentence. A lot of players will be fine IF or As Long As... Like I said, I hope he does well and gets it together, nice enough kid, but I'm not sure of his mental make up at this point...

:lol:I had no idea I was upset. Thanks for informing me about myself.

It actually mean a lot, it means he can shoot. He was the star player on the team so he had good defenders on him. Also many of his shots were contested.

In the NBA, he’s shooting many uncontested open 3’s and jumpers. He’s just missing, it has nothing to do with the defenders.

I see him practicing and he doesn’t shoot like an NBA player even in practice. Point being, he was known as a shooter but something went wrong I’m not sure it’s because of the defense.

Like you said, he’s even missing free throws. That has nothing to do with defenders.

No doubt, but he had good teenage defenders guarding him, and college level schemes. A lot of players are beasts in the lower levels of competition, and it doesn't translate. He's playing against grown men and pros now family. Also, the spotlight was much smaller. I believe honestly, if Lavar had STFU, he would be playing someone what better. There is a huge mental dynamic to this good brother, but with his form, its not just as simple as changing it. Dude has been shooting this way for life, and the NBA is unforgiving. It has everything to do with defenders, because professionals know how to read strengths and weaknesses and make you play to those weaknesses. For example, notice he NEVER shoots his jumper going right? That kid of shit gets eaten up fam.

I don't how you got this from of what I said. It's not even worth going back and forth about. I stand by what I said. Lonzo will be fine as long as he makes the necessary changes to his shot. And by fine, I mean a good starting pg for years to come. I never bought into the hype, so my expectations haven't changed. Y'all thought the nigga was Jason Kidd. He's definitely not that.

Actually if Lonzo hit two more shots a game, he would be Jason Kidd :roflmao:

Jason Kidd Rookie Year Stats:

PPG: 12.6 RB: 6.3 AST: 8.7

Lonzo Rookie Stats:

PPG: 8.7. RB: 7.3 AST: 7.1

Yep, and he can only shoot with the spot up or going left... He's beyond one dimensional on offense on the parameter, plus his mental is obviously fucked up at this point too...

You’re correct, but he’a missing wide open jumpers and free throws! That has nothing to do with the competition.

Word!

Kidd shot 20% higher from the field and 20% higher from the FT Line though...

Plus, it was a much different league playwise back then too...

...and Lay ups...

It actually does, they are making him play to his weaknesses bruh... His mind is fucked up so they are letting him shoot. Wide open looks when you are missing them fucks with your mind and takes you out of the games....

Come on man we’re talking about the stats. If Lonzo hit two more shots a game his FG % would improve.

He’d be going 5-13 a game

Yep layups too, he just needs to twerk the little things. He makes the layups harder than hey need to be and he starts the layups too far from the basket.

Like I said, when I see him practicing his shot’s not falling.

If his shots were falling, there'd literally be no issue. Other than his shooting, he's doing very good.

A broken jump shot doesn't make a player a bust. Stephen A is a fuckin moron. Point guard is the toughest position in the league the master. He's an outstanding rebounder, passer, and not a terrible defensive player already. This is just a case of the media hyping a player up just to tear him down. He didn't say he was the next Jason Kidd or Penny. The media did. He'll be fine. He has to fix that jumper, but he'll be fine.
^^^^^^^^^^^

Waaaaaaaaaay too early for a so called "expert" to be calling this kid a bust.

Historically, has there ever been a high pick who was this bad in a critical area and turned it around to reach their pre draft potential.....

Listen man, I'M JUST ASKING A QUESTION!! Don't want to argue with you, the question is genuine!

(Got a brother posting with trepidation like a son of a bitch! Your reputation precedes you my brother!!) :roflmao:

Hes top ten in assists, boards, and blocks from the position bro. He has elite level potential as a passer and creator.. His shot will improve. Thats something he will have to shelf until the offseason to work on tho.

I feel you man, and I hope he does improve...
I actually posted a theory I heard concerning his assist and rebound numbers though, indicating they are actually inflated based on other factors... :dunno:

Lonzo ball just needs to come out and say "everyone can kiss my ass"... trust me, he'll play after that lol

Funny thing is, he also should add to that 'Dad STFU and keep my name out of your mouth' and I think he may make the damn all star team this season :giggle:

They may be... I havent watched enough of his games to comment on that. But his skill is present and obvious when i see him play. He also has great size and instincts for the position. I think he can develop into a very good player still.

My question is, whose idea was it for him to shoot like that, and why didn't anyone, along the way, tell him he needs to change that shit up?

Dude could've long changed that damn shot up.

Why wait until you get to the NBA?

Yeah it's one thing to be bad but it's a whole other thing to be historically bad, you usually don't come back from that. His pops put an extreme amount of pressure on him. I wish him the best but it don't look good right now!

Lmao at how Skip Bayless keeps saying he was the MVP of the Summer league.

Not pressing play. Tell his screaming ass to calm down and mind his business. Everybody wanna be a profit these days. Let LA worry about it. Relax.

The saddest part about it is his Dad's a "Basketball Trainer" o_O:smh:

Bruh, the shit is retarded. Anyone who knows anything about the fundamentals of basketball know about the fundamentals of shooting. That is why it's so puzzling that that shit was ever even suggested, or allowed to remain that way for long.

You want to know something more retarded? Three years ago he didn't shoot like he does now :smh:

To be fair, Jason Kidd couldn’t shoot a lick either.

Ball has a few triple doubles under his belt he ions away from getting that 1st MVP.

Yes but Kidd was never stupid enough to keep putting them up even though they aint going in.

Most of Ball's shots are 3s. The fuck kind of sense does that make? I understand he wants to shoot himself out of this slump but theres other ways to get rolling offensively.
