Given all his achievements in comic books, entertainment and pop culture, Stan Lee’s nickname, “The Man,” was both well earned and well deserved. From his time as a teenage assistant at then Timely Comics, through his collaborations with fellow icons like Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita Sr. and John Buscema, plus his tireless promotion of comic books to a mainstream audience, Lee was in no small part responsible for raising the profile of comic books to make them accessible to everyone.

“Without Stan Lee’s fertile and creative mind, endless energy and work ethic, comic books would have been completely different from what we know and enjoy today,” said DC Publisher Dan DiDio. “He helped to create worlds that were both fantastic and relatable at the same time, allowing more people to embrace superhero stories. We’ll be forever richer having him with us.”

He also made his impact felt here at DC, as the guiding force behind “Just Imagine,” where he re-imagined several of DC’s main superheroes. For those fortunate to have met and worked with him in those days in DC’s New York offices, his impact, warm smile and influence will always be fondly remembered.

“Stan was a great friend and a true legend. He paved the road for me and other creators for more than half a century,” said DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee. “From my beginnings in the industry until today, Stan’s influence on my work and my life can’t be emphasized enough. It was a dream come true to have worked with him however briefly, and I’m honored to be among the amazing roster of creative talent that shared the stage with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the millions of fans whose lives have been touched by his brilliance.”

Thanks Marvel for putting my content in your movie and leaking out my identity with no comp. Of course they engage in a smear campaign to cover up and create a reason not to pay.

Now I have every deranged loser chasing me around and fully exposed due to the lack of funds. I am Geoffrey Owens on steroids.

I am living the American dream of dealing with full surveillance by the corporate state looking to steal IP.

It is nice working jobs where somebody comes by you 30 times a day or more non stop. They engage in a coordinated psychological warfare with other people. Maybe this is why I dont get paid.

Yeah.

I know I'm late.
Shit absolutely SUCKS!!!
Recalled seeing Lee for the first time when my (late) GrandFather took me to my first Comic Book Convention in 72/73 at the old Commodore Hotel here in NYC. That was the first time I actually met Stan. He shook my hand. I know I spoke to Roy Thomas and Barry Smith. They autographed my convention booklet. I was about 11 at the time.

Lee always appeared at all the Conventions The GrandFather would take me to. Dude was the Ultimate Show/Spokesman.
I regret not going to see Stan at NYC Comic-Con last year. He was on a panel promoting a comic he was doing with Ne-Yo. I had no interest in Ne-Yo. So I passed.

You can't deny the power of someone like Stan Lee.
The Power to influence people of ALL Races, Religions, etc.
And use that influence to steer folks into using their imaginations, into a more creative direction.

Very few people on this planet had that type of power and influence.
Especially in Pop Culture.

For Lee, excelsior meant “upward and onward to greater glory.” That’s what he wished for us all.

Lee died at the age of 95 on Monday and figures from the Marvel world, actors included, came forward to commemorate the man who started it all.

In one of Lee’s final videos posted online, his team captured a candid moment of the man musing about his fans. “There’s something, if you think about it, that is wonderful about somebody caring about you — as I care about them — whom you’ve never met, who may live in another part of the world, but they care and you have something in common and occasionally you contact each other,” Lee said. “This business of fans I think is terrific, and I love ’em all.”

According to Yahoo Movies, the list of Marvel films that don't contain a Stan Lee cameo is

  • "Blade II" (New Line Cinema 2002)
  • "X2" (20th Century Fox 2003)
  • "The Punisher" (Lions Gate Films 2004)
  • "Blade: Trinity" (New Line Cinema 2004)

  • "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" (Columbia Pictures 2012)

  • Man-Thing (2005)
  • The Punisher (1989)
