Sprint's 4G Android Phone Unveiled & It's a Beast!!!

Damnnn.. I thought my htc hero was good enough. 720p video and a huge screen. I'm sold..

399 with a new 2 year contract, don't see sprint selling this for 199.

Sprint will fuck this up with a price point like that.

The iPhone is 199 and the Droid is 199, this device has to be 199 or at most 250.

Sprint spent a bunch of money subsidizing the Pre so why not this phone?

We shall see.

The only thing that I could come up with is that it is flat and maybe makes for an ideal rollout but I'm just assuming.

Bringing a city like NY on too early probably would have been a flop since they hadn't worked out the kinks.

Every time that I've used a 4G connection I've been impressed.

Only reason I don't have one is because I'm not eligible for an overdrive @ the discounted rate yet.

Nah, Texas has telecom corridor (Richardson) where most of the telecom compaines are based, training facilities etc..... and a good stream of tech students coming out of UTD or UTA

It has an HDMI port so you can plug it into a television

Its starting to click now, a phone like this could have a service similar to On-Live built right in to run hi def games and movies. All this with the on set of cloud computing.....:eek::eek:

I do it depends on the cost of the phone upfront.

I got 4G and it works fine...the this is I don't see a real need for it on a mobile device especially if you end up having to pay extra for 4G connectivity. I use 4G mobile hotspot if I'm out and about and I need to upload or download. stiil if the price is rihjt I might switch but I'll wait and see what Palm and Sprint do first.

They insist on selling the TP2 @ $299 w/contract... :smh:

All Windows Mobile phones are overpriced anyways. I've yet to see any Android device cost more than $199 subsidized. I doubt this will be the first either. You may have to pay more for your plan however if you live in an area with 4G coverage just like they do now with their aircards. It's only a $10 difference though.

this phone is straight bodybaggin!!

Android 2.1 + Sense UI + 720p Video Recording + HDMI out + 1ghz processor + Wimaxx/4g =fuck every other phone

Being a Palm Pre owner, I was waiting for a beasting device to drop that would make me give up a dope OS. My plan was to hop on the Nexus One since it got announced for Sprint... but fuck that. This phone definately has my vote.

I'm a physical keyboard person too... but the specs on this phone is worth giving up.

I'm over on Crackberry now, and that's the speculation. Not sure it's worth it to ME to pay the/an extra fee. Doesn't look like FL has 4G yet though.

Big question too is BATTERY LIFE.

This and how much for the 4G/3G data package are my only questions so far.

Sprint dropped the price of the 4G data cards from 79.99 to 59.99 to mirror the 3g cards so maybe we won't have to pay an additional amount for the 4g service.

The question is, can I wait until October or should I add another line

I know this is going to be like $599 without a contract.

Why don't you get the "Moment"??

Android + Physical Keyboard + Bulky = Win For You??

Or are you just looking to get something Heavy Duty when it comes to the specs?

The Moment looks cheap to me

How are you guys liking the Hero?? My brother and sister in law have it and have their issues. My brother and I got a G1 at the same time and now that he has the Hero says that he wants to go back to a vanilla Android phone. Neither of you have had issues with "Sense"?? or the Hero??

Had no problems, they're saying 2.1 in April

Meanwhile RIM can't even get the release of the new Tour right. Shit got pushed back into early summer. The shit isn't even a new phone. (Just replaces the old Tour's trackball with a trackpad, and has Wifi)

:smh:

This is the reason I didn't use my upgrade. I bought a new BB 8330 off of Craigslist in anticipation of the new Tour. The 8330 is my first BB. I LOVE it, BUT.... it could very well be my last.

Gonna be an interesting summer.

RIM is about to be like Palm with their outdated OS

BBM is dope though :D

I see $249 or $299, maybe $399 with a mail in rebate

Sprint will fuck up by not marketing the phone, just like how they do every other phone :smh:

Oh shit I just peeped that they did drop the plans on the 4G data cards. I would go for a 4G card to replace my current one but Indianapolis doesn't have 4G service yet.

HTC HD2 at T-mobile. 179.99. Saw it today. Played with it. Sweet as hell too. Very fast and very responsive.

Baltimore was one of the first. There is a potential issue with overloading the system.

Damn Divine is ignoring this thread like a mofo

I wonder why
Maybe he's looking for ammo

ain't shit he can say. Even if the phone was 3g it's still a monster. like I said 4G will come @ a premium cost still the hardware and android 2.1 is a winner

Pretty much:lol:

Sprint will have Flava Flava doing a fucking commercial for this phone with a bunch of numbers and bullshit in the background:smh:

The new cards are 4G/3G so if you're not in a 4G area your card will still work

Sprint dropped the price of 4G service to 59.99 for business customers because they weren't willing to pay an additional 20 for 4G service.

Not 100% sure about the consumer side but paying 20-30 bucks for unlimited 4g data service and the ability to use the phone as a modem isn't bad (if this is the price).

damn!!

i'm glad i didn't re-up my iphone to the 3gs. contract is getting ready to expire...Apple better make a power move with the new iphone in June!

these phones coming out now shitting on the iphone!

I just checked but I don't qualify for any kind of discount for an upgrade on my current aircard yet :(

How far are you into your 2 year contract?

The reason that I ask is because if it is coming up in a few months then you might be better off waiting.

Novatel is making a Mifi device which is like the Sierra Overdrive.

Essentially it is a 4G mobile hotspot that works as a NAS, supporting 5 users.

I don't think I've hit the 6 month mark yet. I'm close but haven't crossed that threshold yet. Can't remember if I got it in November or October.
