Spawn reboot: Jamie Foxx as Al Simmons?

I'm not sure if it would work. Deadpool and Kick Ass worked because they had elements of comedy.

I actually liked both the last punisher and Judge Dredd movies, but I don't recall anyone talking about them.I also didn't think the last Robocop was that bad either (wasn't rated R), but it kind of seems like people aren't really into more pure action type movies anymore.

I liked the Total Recall remake also....I need to see the Robocop remake, because I saw a shitty version of the movie.

This dumb ass cracka here. STUPID STUPID STUPID FUCKER!!!

This mothafucka talkin bout a ghost without special effects????!!!!! Man ain't nobody fiddin ta watch that dumbass shit. THis mothafucka done snorted all the profits from the first movie and lost his mothafuckin mind!

Go head honkey and make that stoopid ass shit so it can flop and be out the theaters in 2 weeks while I laugh till I get cramps everytime I think about this dumb ass idea.

R rating doesnt mean a good movie...dont know why people keep eluding to that...

i mean some movies get a boost from it cuz of the kinda character it is but if the shit sucks it just sucks...

see both Punishers...i think war zone didnt even break 10 mil total...smh

True. R can't save a shitty script.

R just means more adult situations. The stories sucked for both Punisher movies and I don't even remember the first one.

With certain characters you expect to see more realism from the story telling and action because of the type of situations they are in.

It's just taken too long for them to deal with the characters on this level. I remember when Blade first came out the tone of that movie they could've put a decent sex scene in there and it would've been ok.

You can do Spawn with a 50 million dollar budget as long as you go HARD R with it. The first one had the perfect guy playing Spawn and Violator. It also had Teresa Russel in her finest. The problem is that everything else sucked.

But I do think that the best thing about Deadpool is that it might finally allow Hard properties likes Sandman, Witchblade, or The Darkness to come to light. The Darkness being the hardest to pull though, because that shit would be a little too intense.

Yeah 50 million if used right can go along way. Especially with lower costing actors. I didn't mind Spawn. But see i'm talking as a outsider. I'm not a comic head so as just a guy watching movies I liked the original Spawn. I wouldn't even be opposed to them bringing all the actors back lol.

But I just know asking for a hard R rating with a black lead.......that's going to limit the budget.

Damn. I liked both Punishers. Well I don't know about that 1980's shit but them ones that came out in the 2000's.

What was wrong with them?

I didn't get to speak on this in my OG post.....the R Rating shit isn't what' bothersome. Its this shit here:

“In the background, there’s this thing moving around, this boogeyman. That boogeyman just happens to be something that you and I, intellectually, know is Spawn,” he explained. “Will he look like he did in the first movie? No. Will he have a supervillain he fights? No. He’s going to be the spectre, the ghost.”

Bruh..........

Who the fuck wants to watch yet ANOTHER horror movie? They don't even make them shits anymore because people got tired of them.

110% cosign dude.
Cats are acting like because a superhero movie gets an "R" rating that somehow it's automatically better. When nothing could be further from the truth.
Certain superheroes would definitely benefit from an R rating but I don't believe most would.

- Deadpool ain't Spiderman.
- Blade ain't Captain America.
- Spawn ain't Batman.
- The Authority ain't The Avengers.

Actually bro it was Theresa Randle in Spawn:

Not Theresa Russell

I think what people are saying is that when you have explicit material....you can't make the shit on no PG13. Its gonna be dumbed down. Can you imagine Deadpool with a PG 13 rating? It wouldn't even be the same movie. R rating doesn't make it better but in order to sell it to the public you can't sell us no explicit material on a PG13 rating. Of Course Spiderman and Superman are ok pg movies. They are kids material. As far as a R rating for Batman.....I wouldn't mind seeing that from some of those more explicit comments. That would NEVER happen of course but wouldn't be opposed to seeing it.

Comic-Con 2017: Spawn Movie Officially Announced, Todd McFarlane to Direct
Share.
Get Out, Split production company Blumhouse to produce the film.

After discussing the possibility of the project in recent months, Todd McFarlane has officially confirmed a new Spawn movie is in development and that he will be on to direct.

McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, made the announcement via his Facebook page while at San Diego Comic-Con following a panel with director Kevin Smith. The film will be produced by Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind recent hits like Get Out, Split, and the Paranormal Activity franchise.

McFarlane wrote the script for the movie, as he mentioned last year when discussing the then-prospective film, which will be his directorial debut. No other details, including cast or release date, have yet been announced.

This is a new film project based on the dark, action-packed superhero storyline Spawn by creator Todd McFarlane.

Last year, McFarlane said the film would not be a continuation of the 1997 film but instead be a fresh take that has "a dark, R-rated, scary, badass sort of script."

Spawn first debuted in 1992 via the eponymous Image Comics series, which introduced Al Simmons, whose soul was sent to Hell after being killed. There, he makes a deal, in exchange for his soul, to return to Earth and see his wife, but he returns as the titular demonic being Spawn.

Completely agree.... but the main point is that hopefully this will allow them to greenlight more R-rated Superhero movies. And actually Slam... Sadly there were 3 punisher films.

Update..
Actually the 1st one wasn't that bad.

If this gets made it's going to be AWFUL.

One of the worse movies I've ever seen was Frank Miller directed "The Spirit"

if the team that did Blade was responsible then i would be excited, also for a franchise the spawn in the background concept without the bakc story works

This is where you need someone objective at the helm.

The animated mini series on HBO WAS AMAZING.

But this is not good. I remember what happened to The Spirit and Robocop 2 and Blade 3 and any number of films where the director is too close to the source and fucks it up because he’s not ready for the chair yet.

Shit. To be honest, I would love to see my favorite screenplay get made tomorrow if it was possible but I know that I’m not ready to helm it. I already know. MAC should know better too.

oNE

Should've known Jamie's thirsty beggin ass was gonna get the role.

I guess Tod needed a big name that's desperate and he got it.
