Apple Reaches iPad Milestone: One Million Sold
Monday May 03, 2010 08:45 AM EST
Written by Eric Slivka

Apple today announced that it has reached one million iPads sold in the 28 days since the launch of Wi-Fi models in early April. iPad users have also downloaded over 12 million apps and over 1.5 million eBooks during that time.
"One million iPads in 28 days -- that's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Demand continues to exceed supply and we're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers."

Apple offered no indication in its press release of sales of Wi-Fi + 3G iPad models, which went on sale in the U.S. last Friday.

Apple previously announced that it had sold 300,000 iPads on the first day of sales of Wi-Fi-only models. Less than a week after that launch, Jobs noted at the company's iPhone OS 4 media event that it had passed 450,000 in iPad sales.

Tracking site Chikita estimated last week that Apple had sold its one millionth iPad even before the 3G-capable models went on sale.

Hello there!

Hello Steve Jobs' ball Sweater/Nut hugger!

I dont hate Apple. The iPad just sucks, and thats coming from a man who loves his iPhone. I respect their hustle getting sheepish beings as yourself to purchase their half assed Beta products.

I'll cop iPad 5th Gen with all the good shit.

Apple iPad May Overtake Amazon Kindle
from Apple iPad Forum by iDan

A recent survey of e-book reader owners and those who intend to buy an e-book reader has concluded that Apple’s iPad may soon overtake Amazon’s Kindle, if it provides a compelling enough eReader experience. The report, “US & UK eReader Owner and Intender Survey 2010”, by Strategy Analytics, concludes that current e-book reader owners say they are very satisfied with their devices, with four out of five US owners preferring e-book readers to physical books.

The report found that potential e-book customers look for the following criteria: ease of access to books, ease of content transfer, and newspaper and magazine availability. “While brand name is still an important factor for current owners when choosing their next e-book reader,” says Chris Schreiner, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics. “Consumers buying their first e-book reader will focus more on the durability and availability of e-books.”

Kevin Nolan, Vice President of the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice, added, “Even though e-book readers allow for easy portability, more than half of e-book reader usage still occurs at home.”

"Hater" is the most overused term on the planet for obnoxious fucks like you. I come in your threads for you and Deuterion's trolling. Its quite entertaining that you guys dont know you're embarrassing yourselves.

1,000,000 iPads. 28 days. First Take
Apple released some numbers today that certainly caught my attention. One million iPads in twenty eight days. So what does this mean?
by Michael Gartenberg?

1. Apple has validated this market. As i’ve talked in the past, there’s a worldwide market for 50,000 of anything. Try to sell 500,00 that’s another story. Get to a million and you’re a success by any measure. I suspect that in the history of ‘tweener devices, if you added up all the efforts over the last decade they likely didn’t app to a million units sold. The market is real and it’s a new line of business.

2. The reason Apple was successful was they optimized for the form factor. Sure, iPad looks a lot like a large iPod touch but in practice it’s much more than that. Vendors building on Windows 7 need to think how that will play in the market. Windows, like OS X, for better or for worse was designed for large screens, mice and keyboards. Likewise, Android in current format works best for phones. It will be interesting what Google has to say about tablets at I/O.

3. This space is going to heat up. Once a market is validated, expect others to jump in big time. Much as Apple validated the market for GUI based PCs in the 80s, expect others to challenge them this time around as well. Apple has laid out a paradigm of the next 20 years of personal computing. The rest of the market is not going to cede that to them without a fight. Expect to see weak challenges for the next 30-60 days but some very strong competition as we get into the second part of this year.

I'm not embarrassing myself homie but you know what's truly embarrassing? The fact that you cannot amass the will power to stay away from these threads. It is as if you have some kind of compulsive disorder that causes you to click on any Apple thread subconsciously. You see, If you were truly apathetic about Apple you wouldn't even care enough to open any thread about it. It's like me and anal porn...if it says anal in the title I don't even click it let alone think about it for more than 3 seconds. I don't find it necessary to go into the thread and voice my displeasure because Anal Porn isn't worth my time. You on the other hand HAVE to come into these threads to express your distaste either because you're envious of Apple product owners or you simply want some of their products yourself. I'm happy to see the iPad sell 1 million because that means more apps, more accessories, and more support for a device I currently own. If you didn't like it stay the hell out of the threads it is that simple. You're acting like those ghetto bitches who say they don't like drama but always the first ones in it.

Congrats.

1MM worldwide is a pretty notable number in the CE world.

Took my last co. 10 months to hit 1MM - but then again, our product was only useable in the USA and a whole new format.

But I wonder how they (Apple) feel about the FTC launching and inquiry over their exclusion of Flash.
