Actually atmospheric refraction doesn't make the Earth look flat, as you claim, what it does is change the distance to the horizon (as in the photo of the so-called black swan). Because even in that photograph there is still a horizon that causes the bottom of the ships to disappear just at a further point than normal.
In reality, there isn't a single effect from refraction, moon dust, or unicorn farts that allows you to see the world as if it were flat. As I said, if this were true the sun and the moon would shrink into the horizon not get cut off by the curve of the earth.
Oh btw nice claim by Witless but where is the evidence to back his claim, that lasers cannot bend over lakes, I forgot to cult members, dogmatic claims is all you need for proof.
