Let's be honest, xenophobic fake outrage aside, there's an economic logic that drives this stuff that no one wants to talk about.
How US Policies Fueled Mexico's Great Migration
All the fear mongering, handwringing and dehumanization of these people serves to obfuscate the fact that:
1) We literally created this situation and continue to profit from it
2) We are romanticizing America's migrant history (acting as if those who migrated "legally" in the good old days didn't do so in the absence of laws prohibiting it. The fact that this granted "white" people freedom to move as they pleased seems to be lost, moreover we are led to believe that their motivations are somehow different than the intentions which motivate Mexicans - or any other Hispanic undocumented people, namely freedom, peace and security for their families)
3) NO ONE wants the jobs that are being done by this new underclass and we saw proof of this recently: Georgia's Harsh Immigration Law Costs Millions in Unharvested Crops
The narrative that this is about "Law and Order" is a bunch of BS... it's the same as it ever was. If we're going to have 10,000 bullshit superficial threads about this issue let's at least have an honest discourse about it.
