With so much information floating around about this latest saga in the life and career of Floyd Mayweather, it’s only fitting that we should look at the core elements and separate the unimportant peripheral matters. The suit was filed by Shantel Jackson as a basis for “General”, “Compensatory” ($$$), and “Punitive” damages against Floyd Mayweather. Here’s a glimpse at her allegations and the counter-points they’ll have to withstand to win in court:
(Ms. Jackson Allegation #1): “He bent her arm, restrained her, and pointed a gun at her foot, asking ‘Which toe do you want me to shoot?’ “He then demanded her to remove her 17 carat diamond engagement ring at gunpoint”. This action was one of many reported in which Mr. Mayweather attacked her and imprisoned her, preventing her from leaving….a few times in which a gun was present.
(Counter Point): Of all the charges levied, imprisonment (kidnap) with a weapon present is one of the more incriminating charges ANYONE can land in Las Vegas. September 16th is the 6yr anniversary in which OJ Simpson was arrested for this very charge (among others). He remains behind bars. In Nevada, it carries a sentence of roughly 40yrs with a MINIMUM of 15yrs before parole eligibility. If it is true that Mayweather is guilty of this charge, why was compensation requested, yet this easily proven crime overlooked and not presented to the courts?
(Ms. Jackson Allegation #2): In her disposition, she listed several timelines in which she attempted to move forward yet Mr. Mayweather “continued to try to persuade [her] to work the relationship could work”; and during this time frame she stated that he “was aggressive” and somewhat “unpredictable”.
(Counter Point): During the specific timelines presented, social media and various interviews showed Floyd Mayweather not only enjoying the company of other women, but also speaking about Shantel Jackson “abusing the privilege of being the Champs chick”, referring to random trip she took in his private jet to party in L.A. and other cities, which Mayweather felt was “excessive”. These statements seem to support him hurt, yet at peace in his effort to move forward. During the same time frame she was boldly witnessed flirting with Akon and a number of other rappers/celebs during parties she attended. This visual display tears at the fabric of any argument presented that she was under mental distress from his “abuse” at the time.
(Ms. Jackson Allegation #3): Ms. Jackson had to “turn down job opportunities and worked infrequently”, which was described as her submission to his personal request of her.
Counter Point): When we look at those closest to Mayweather, each has enjoyed a level of independence never really celebrated away from him, and it all centers around business ownership and opportunity. P-Reala, his good friend oversaw the record company. The Mother of his oldest daughter and former ex, Melissia Brim, has “Devanna Love Boutique”, which he funded, as well. We’ve seen vehicles with Ms. Jackson’s name and face plastered on them in a full scale promotion and we’ve heard him talk about support of her acting and business ventures. How can it be proven in court that he prevented her from creating income streams when he has effortlessly established them for others less important to him than her?
(Ms. Jackson’s Allegation #4): FLOYD MAYWEATHER’S QUESTIONABLE CHARACTER! All of the allegations presented encompass this one, as Mayweather is the easiest target imaginable based on several past actions.
(Counter Point): Like Mayweather, Ms. Jackson has a history of questionable actions, although none involved legal matters, so her limited popularity (away from Mayweather) kept them under wraps. Not only has she been long viewed as a “chief opportunist” in the entertainment world, but not too long ago, she was publicly targeted as a ‘home-wrecker’, after she posted a picture of her and Michael Jordan days after his new wife gave birth to their twin girls, as the NBA legend was seen palming her rear end while holding a wad of cash. Why she would post such a picture of a married man who’s a world celebrated legend is questionable, but why she was in that situation to do so tells us some of those rumors of her “opportunistic tendencies” may be true. Keep in mind that this happened since she started dating Nelly. (His Charlotte Bobcats NBA business partner).
(Ms. Jackson Allegation #5): Defamation of character, evidenced by several public comments, private comments, and the release of her medical records which demonstrate her decision to abort their twin babies which she carried briefly.
(Counter Point): Of all these allegations, this is the one which there is no true counter point for. Mayweather was apparently hurt by the move and felt a need to tell the world why he was hurt, but HIPAA medical laws which govern the privacy of medical records is a very non-forgiving platform. Release of this information at the hands of Mayweather could very well be the straw that breaks the camels back. Unfortunately, this is one ‘hump’ Team Mayweather won’t get over easily.
(FINAL ANALYSIS): These are all serious allegations that should not be overlooked, but the initial presentation tells us that compensation is the end goal. This is the second fight in a row in which we’ve seen Shantel Jackson launch rhetoric in the direction of Floyd Mayweather the week of a fight. The last time around, it was the picture of her with Nelly (on May 1st). This time around, it’s the lawsuit. Any strategist with sense knows there’s no better time to target a public figure than when their popularity is trending – ala the biggest fight week of the year!
A solid lawyer could pick these allegations apart with little resistance. I mean they laid down and made those kids together and barring any medical issues that could lead to death or other serious conditions, doesn't the father have a right to those kids as well if he indeed wants them?
