If young people use anything like message boards it is Reddit. Plus most message board require some grasp of the English language. Who wants to read this shit? "I wuz guna 2 c if it wuz gud r not, fr, fr".

I wouldn't worry about it, in the 20 years people won't be using message boards at all.
Message boards used to be the only place to go to obtain free movies, music, porn while also being to interact socially which isn't the case anymore.
The reason for the decline in membership isn't age its the fact the abundance of social media sites, the ability to watch porn online without even having to download it, its the fact that YouTube has music/interviews/movies which can easily be found, its the emergence of cheap streaming platforms that enables you to access hundreds of movies/tv shows immediately, and its the abundance and easy access of podcasts now.
Back in the day you had to go to a message board to find that type of content for free.

Back when I was coming up they did not have Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, the internet was more fractured back in the day. Now they are flocking to these 'inclusive' platforms because they see their favorite athlete/entertainer using them not knowing that they are not.
