Finally the news is official. Following Galaxy S9 display leaks, battery leaks and detailed specification leaks, Samsung has formally confirmed what are the two biggest changes to its most important smartphone of the year…

In an invite sent to myself and many other journalists, Samsung put the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus cameras front and centre by tagging the whole event: “The Camera. Reimagined”. The good news is we already know something about what this will contain, the bad news is not every Galaxy S9 model will be treated the same.

Starting with the good, Samsung will equip the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus with a primary 12 megapixel rear camera capable of shooting with an F1.5 aperture. This is the largest aperture ever used in a smartphone and gives it the potential to deliver class leading high speed (up to 120fps 4K video) and low light performance.

The downside is Samsung is not treating its new Galaxy S9 smartphones the same.

While the Galaxy S9 Plus will benefit from a dual camera (offering optical zoom functionality) the smaller Galaxy S9 will have just a single module. Given Google’s Pixel 2 currently delivers the best photos of any smartphone with a single camera, this isn’t the end of the world but it is the first time Samsung has not equipped both Galaxy phones with the same capabilities. This may drive customers to the larger and more expensive Galaxy S9 Plus.

In addition to the camera, Samsung also revealed a second major change from the Galaxy S8, its launch date.

Samsung states the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will be unveiled on February 25th more than a month earlier than the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, which also didn’t go on sale until April 21st. This means Samsung’s flagships will have barely more than 10 months as top dogs which a) shows the relentless speed of technological progress, but b) may annoy those who didn’t expect their purchases to be usurped so quickly.

Of course the big upgrades this year are all on the inside as I exclusively revealed the largely unchanged Galaxy S9’s final design last month. Whether that is enough to excite users more used to Samsung tradition of making significant external upgrades every year, remains to be seen…

That would have been a huge mistake homie. My S8 takes better pics than my wife's Iphone 8 plus.

what about that new iPhone X.?
It's not selling like they projected and may be cheaper come June.
Usually LOTS of promotions going on graduation/Fathers Day time of year.

Not paying $1k for a phone that doesn't even have the infrared beam to operate your TV/cable box. AND IT'S ALL GLASS.

Pixel 2 XL if you love android, buttery smooth, best camera ever, hella good battery life and the screen is awesome, people complain about the blue shift, but that is slight and very worth it so you can look at your phone in direct sunlight.

The 4k @ 120 is impressive, but it seems like it's essentially going to be a S8 with a better camera. I was hoping for more significant improvements.

Didn't they stop production of them shits cause of declining sales...and over all glut of them???!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

HELLO S9!

leave them apple problems alone~

iPhone X Set For Cancellation

Apple’s revolutionary tenth-anniversary handset, the iPhone X, may not be here for long. While most iPhones expect to have a long and happy life moving down the portfolio, there are indications the iPhone X will be a ‘one year and gone’ handset.
-disappointing sales of the iPhone X will lead to the cancellation of the model “with production ceasing in the summer”. This would be the first time Apple has canceled an iPhone model after just one generation since the iPhone 5C in 2014.lack of interest in China is the main reason. In China big screens are king and the iPhone X’s polarising "notch" is seen by Chinese consumers as removing too much usable space.
Especially when the cheaper iPhone 8 Plus actually delivers slightly more.
