Sailing anyone?

Brothas been rocking Nautica and Helly Hansen for 20+ years and never stepped foot on a boat

LOL....Helly Hansen is expensive as fuck....never heard of it until last year when I was looking for some fresh sailing gear....didn't buy any...yet...LOL

Man fuck those shoe, make my feet sweat.

What’s your safety gear like?

Mine too...I wear those foot socks now.

Safety gear required is horn, life jacket for all on board, at least on throw-able floating device, etc.

The best safety gear is listen to what the fuck I tell you to do, respect the water and always keep one hand free for the boat......

Not my thing, but good luck. I was always told owning and maintaining a boat is a money pit.

I've fantasized about island hopping on a private yacht across the Caribbean. But I'm sure that's mad expensive.

Nope...learn how to sail.....that is what I am working towards.

Two couples I learned with were planning just that. Fly to the Virgin Islands, charter a sailboat and spend a week sailing from island to island. The flight is the most expensive part of the trip.

Not a yacht, but it is doable within a year or so of learning to sail.

That's crazy because I remember it from back in the day.

Seriously, let me know next time you head this way. I actually sail in Clear Lake out of Keemah. You passed that exit on the way to Galveston. Maybe by the time you come back I will have a sailing spot out of Galveston, but Keemah is perfect for families. We will motor right past the Keemah Boardwalk prior to hoisting sails, which is a great day spot for couples and families.
definitely. we coming down again in July. i'll hit u up.

Definitely would like to go out on the water and chill with by boys, beer, babes and some great food. Maybe do a little fishing. But sailing sounds like a lot of work. More power to you dude.

I'd like to get a boat, a cuddy cabin, to float around with in the summer. I can see how sailing would be fun, but not my thing. Enjoy!

Looks like a cool hobby. I've always noticed people chillin' in the bays around downtown Miami... Never knew someone who had a sailboat though.

...if I would have made the same thread Sam....the response would have been "get out of here with this cracka shit...cracka !!!!"

hmm maybe bcuz you flood other ppl’s threads w/ your corny ass nitpicking/complaints...on the other hand I was the first one to rate this 5***** :dunno:

Me either. Just decided to take lessons. Less than 400 bucks and one weekend of class/sailing is all the initial certification takes.

always heard the fastest way to burn through your money is to buy a boat

what are your costs op?

running
storage
insurance?
maintenance?

I had a friend with a boat that would classify as a yacht. When talking to another friend about it I said my friend with the yacht was “the man”. The friend I was talking to said “no, you’re the man because you get to go but don’t have to pay fuel cost, dock fees, maintenance, etc.”, that shit stuck with me.

As for your question, the certification allows you to “bareboat charter”. Meaning rent a boat without a captain. The school I learned at is the same place I rent boats by the day to sail. My favorite costs 160 for the whole fucking day. No fuel cost. No maintenance cost. No dock fees. I pay my money and can take a boat out from 9 am to 9 pm if I want.

no sailing but it's very big where i live the lakes full of them. we're out there on a trojan 400, belongs to my wife's brother who let us use it since he has nowhere to keep it now near him
