Trainer Freddie Roach is possibly looking for a taste of revenge. The hall of fame coach would like to see WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38KOs) defend his title against IBF/WBA 140-pound king Lamont Peterson (30-1, 15KOs). Pacquiao is going to return in May or June of 2012. With Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently getting hit with a 90-day prison sentence for a domestic abuse charge, a number of boxers have been named as possible opponents for Pacquiao's first fight of the new year.
When Sal Rodriguez asked Roach for his preference among the three likely candidates - Tim Bradley, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marqiez - Roach replied with the name of "Lamont Peterson." In response to his desire for Peterson, Roach was asked "why" and the trainer replied "why not?" On December 10th, Peterson upset Amir Khan, another fighter trainer by Roach, with a twelve round split decision to capture the WBA and IBF titles.

It would be funny if these niggas pulled this. I like Peterson, but this is a half step below fighting Bradley which isn't a good look for Pac IMO. They were bitching up on the mega fight for Marquez 4, yet now there's debate...
If they really can't wait for Floyd, Marquez for is a logical choice. If they aren't carefully, they'll fuck with one of these slick fighters that may pull a Marquez though, but ultimately get the robbery treatment.
