Considering how everything he saying from this point on will be attributed in someway to Barack Obama and will ultimately be spun into something negative...why is he speaking out NOW? Timing is everything in life and this mini tour Wright is doing may be great timing for him but its not so good for Obama.
He said a couple of times this morning "I will be pastor after November 4th and I will be pastor after January 22nd.." which is very true BUT he's only relevant NOW.. Unless Obama wins the general election the expiration date on Jeremiahs Wright Jr.s national spot light is 1 am November 5th.
Do you REALLY think that CNN, MSNBC, FOX NEWS and all the Internet bloggers would give a fat rats ass about Reverend Wright or his "bombastic" "unpatriotic" views once Obama leaves the scene?
And that leads me to believe that Pastor Wright is not just defending his legacy (as is his right to do so) but he's taking advantage of the spotlight. Make no mistake the ONLY reason this man is getting this much attention is NOT because of who Barack Obama is but because of what Obama is trying to achieve. IF Obama loses the general election Wright goes back into obscurity. IF Obama loses the nomination Wright goes into obscurity that much sooner. NOW is the ONLY time he has to defend himself (and get a little shine) on the national stage.
That man has been preaching this stuff for a long time and even tho celebrities have been a part of his congregation he himself hasn't has much attention aside from local celebrity in his Chicago neighborhood. This situation puts him on the national scene in a way that he's never been...maybe he didn't seek it but he sure as hell is capitalizing on it now.
Which brings us back to Obama and how this may affect his campaign. In a smart and just world it SHOULDN'T...but we don't live in that world. Pundits and adversaries will work overtime to twist Wrights words and context into the most negative thing you've ever heard. And then tie that into Obama. At this point the only thing Obama can do is ignore the questions and charges. He's already made his decision and he should stick with. Because at this point no matter what Obama does on the Wright Issue..it will be viewed as wrong:
If he doesn't disavow and distance himself from Wright after this latest round of shit then he's showing bad leadership.
If he DOES disavow him now after saying he couldn't before then he's WISHY WASHY and a flip flopper.
IMO Wright could have and SHOULD HAVE waited until AFTER November 4th (election day) if for no other reason than to give Obama one less thing to deal with. And him doing this NOW is part selfish because he knows he won't have as big a stage and spotlight later.
