Why Would Elimating Aa Be So Bad. Blacks Are Not The Biggest Minority Anyway? And Aa Isnt Used As It Was Intended Anyway Other Minority Groups Benefit Way More From Aa Than Blacks Anyway.

I'm a minority business owner, who dialogues with a lot of others like me. The loss of set asides for minority business would kill a lot of the fledgling black owned businesses out there. Quite a few of us work with the state and the Feds to provide goods and services. Without a requirement to have small business set asides how long do you think it would take for the larger, more established (read white) companies to take that market?

In addition, the large companies are required to use a certain percentage of minority subcontractors. Without this requirement a bro or sister wouldn't be able to approach these larger businesses and have a hope of being a subcontractor.

I also know several small businesses who have grown because of being able to get their product into larger companies such as Jewel Foods or Target (e.g. Reggio's Pizza, ComfortCake, Crystal Water, Glory Greens). Without mandated minority inclusion programs, I know for fact that none of these businesses would have lasted for more than a year (I know because I know each of the owners).

Our people, our businesses use these programs and grow because of them. I've seen it myself. This bill would have literally killed a lot of small businesses out here within a year.

If the government fined every company $10,000 per head of illegal worker and hired 1000 more federal marshals to enforce this, there would be very little reason for them to come here. Who said you need Federal Marshals patrolling the workforce to levy fines? All you would need is a government employee to show up to a strawberry field, and ask the owner to produce the documents for the workers that they have hired...they did check to see if they were here legally didn't they? The state already sends out people to check restaurants to check and see if they are up to Health Code Standards...they can collect worker documentation while they're there. I've had to provide my social security card for every job I've worked.

It seems that you are missing the big picture. Hiring 1,000,000 border agents will not stop illegals from making it into the country. We've spent billions of dollars on drug interdiction and have failed miserably there as well. Illegals come here because they can get work. If the employers would not hire them, then they would have no reason to come. But our system is set-up to feed on slave labor. Our produce, construction, and Wal-Mart type industries thrive on it. We need to cut off the problem at the head, as opposed to the foot.

We will not be able to stop globalization...in fact it's too late. A significant portion of our major companies are already foreign owned. Are we going to make the foreign companies give ownership back? That leads to people's mortgages being held directly by foreign corporations. What is to be done about that? Produce is a major part of the California economy, and for the dirt wages and no benefits they pay those immigrants, no American, black white or otherwise would be willing to do it. Cali couldn't take the hit. You should read REEFER MADNESS, there's a great case for this in that book.

The problem with this is that our economy should not (and never have been) based on the use of slave labor. Thats what these immigrants are and thats why the whole immigration issue isn't going anywhere. You've got PACs in Washington representing the big farmers, dropping money all over the place and crying that they have to have these workers otherwise they'll go out of business. Its the same bullshit we see in the IT industry with regards to the H1B issue.

American business, in the pursuit of globalism, wants to drop the workers wages such that they can make a product for sale in countries that can't currently afford them. Instead of reducing their profits, they reduce their direct labor costs (i.e. lower salary, no retirement benefits, no health care, no putting into Social Security). Unfortunately they're killing the american worker by doing this.

Of course these workers don't care because when our country goes to shit, they'll take their american dollars and head back down to Mexico where they can then live in a much better way than we can.

Every morning where I live you can see tens of hundreds of illegals standing outside in groups waiting for some guy in a big SUV or pick up truck to hire them for a few hours of work for little or no pay, or at least below the minimum wage and pay them in cash. You can bet these guys that hire those illegals under the table don’t send campaign donations to Democratic Party. One of the main reasons illegal immigration is up since the late 1980s is due to the union busting of republicans and big business. If we had strong unions, there is no way illegals would be allow to work in large numbers. GW wants amnesty for them though. He wants to drive down the wages and create an employment pool of low wage workers that will under cut American workers. As a Californian, I am fully aware that agriculture is a big part of our economy.

Small business is a big part of the American way just as much as is big business is. Small business is the reason America is America. It's the reason there is a big fucking line to come here. People have too many hurdles to jump through for very little benefit in other countries. People rather start a business in America or China where they can reap the benefits of owning a successful business.

Nah dawg. Its tough for young black men to find jobs in Houston.I talk to young dudes all the time. Its truly a struggle to find a job for many black youth. Many Whites and Mexicans are turning them down at the door

This is in response to a GAO report that will be released today that shows these two agencies have contracted less than 2% with minority owned firms and that 2% represents very small dollars per contract in comparison to majority own firms. This comes from a GAO study of the implementation of Executive Order 13170 which directs agencies to take an aggressive role in ensuring substantial participation in federal advertising contracts by businesses certified as 8(a) or SDB by the Small Business Administration. It’s time to implement!

As you can see, even with federally mandated quotas, getting our fair share is still a bitch!
