Red Dead Redemption 2 (spoilers)

Went to the bait shop yesterday. My fully bonded war horse was in a panic over there. I know a gator was across the pond but he ran like 20 feet away when I called him.

I don’t know why anyone would want any other horse.. then the White Arabian. Once you max that bad boy out... no body in the game can catch you.
Here's why...

Yeah, I captured the White Arabian. Used it for quite awhile, but eventually I switched to another horse. And never looked back.

You might disagree, but personally I think those Arabian horses in the game are a little too 'skittish' & will tend to buck/throw you off, whenever a dangerous predator is in their vicinity.

However, if you level up certain horses (like the Missouri Fox Trotter, Andalusian, Dutch Warmblood or the Turkoman)... they are not quite as fast as Arabians... but they tougher & more sturdy... and tend not to get rattled as easily by enemy gunshots, or large predators.

Granted, the Top Speed of the Arabian is fantastic.... But some folks prefer a horse that won't buckle/bolt as quickly as the Arabian, whenever shit hits the fan. (I know I do.)

For Example >> that 'Cremello Gold' colored Dutch Warmblood is a BRUTE. Great for hunting & combat. Even though he's not as fast as the Arabian... He's STURDY as hell in a firefight / or an ambush. And he has ALOT of stamina that doesn't run out very quickly.

Considering the tradeoffs between Top Speed, Acceleration, Health, Stamina & Ruggedness... I like the Cremello Gold Dutch Warmblood best.

I think it's the best horse in the game, in my opinion.
I can sacrifice a bit of Speed.... for more Ruggedness.

But that's just me. (Maybe I'm not alone :dunno:)

Andreas Hale tells his random Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay experience at the start of the episode. Go to the 1 minute, 40 second mark and he tells it for a few minutes ...

I have that same reaction ...
"Aww man I killed a black person"

I only been set up by a black person once. He picked my pocket and bolted. I chased him down, hog-tie him, got my money back then set him free.

How is the game compared with the previous one? I'm not a gamer, but it's cool hearing/reading everyone's thoughts online.
I played all 3 of the Red Dead games.
This one is EPIC... compared to the others... and compared to all the GTA games.

Game of the Year. Most likely.
(And quite possibly 'the best game' ever made on this current generation of consoles.)

Every generation of gaming consoles has a game (or two) that 'defines' it.
This is one of them. No question.

Nice! Thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear people are loving the game.

I've been on chapter two forever it's so much to do I dont want to progress and miss out on something.

Missed out on the gold glitch so I tried restarting. This time around on the hunting mission the bear kicked my ass. After that I said fuck that gold and went back to my old save

There's some truth to this about that damn Arabian.

I love that horse but man it is JUMPY! I'm at a bonding level of like 8 out of 10. I was going to rob Catfish Jackson... Hit a corner and I see a fast approaching red dot coming at me from the woods. First thought was SNAKE but I look up and it's a fuckin puma! Luckily I was already holding my pump action shotgun so I hit dead eye and put it down. I come out of dead eye and noticed that fuckin horse was in the process of bucking me off as I was shooting the big cat.

Had I not reacted the way I did and as quickly as I did I'd have been a lunchable... :smh:

when you die in free roam you lose a small % of your money between 5-20% ...lets say you die 6 times in 1 hour you lose 20% of your money

As you progress through the story there's missions that give you free weapons. If you're in chapter 3 you can get a new Lancaster in the gunsmith basement. You can travel north or strawberry for the home robbery at any time. You get a semi automatic shotgun. I recommend you buy a volcanic pistol. Its great for head shots.

I bought all of those already

I honestly don’t get your complaint....

I’ve played this game everyday and I’ve never felt shit was in order. I’ve had more random shit happen...

This morning I was trying to track down a wolf pelt and ended up getting blindsided by a cougar.

granted that last part is not that exciting to me but my complaint is you have this gorgeous game but R* does little cheat code shit that forces you into eventually doing the big missions or side missions in a particular order to unlock certain shit...it’s “open-world” in the sense that yes there’s a lot to see and many places to go but you can’t experience/do certain things until you’ve completed certain missions...some will say that’s “every” game but I’ve been spoiled by “breath of the wild” where you were able to do everything out the jump...the game could be completed in 40 minutes or 40 hours...there was complete freedom in the game to play it exactly how you wanted to...nothing was “locked” based on rank/completion level...I’ve been wanting R* to take their games to that level since ‘san andreas’...they offer a restricted sandbox environment imo

I was just thinking the same shit earlier today. I shouldn't have to do a mission to unlock being able to fish

ya I “unlocked” that ability a couple days ago...I’m not downing the game completely but it’s just frustrating when you have a game of this immensity and it’s still hampered by old school video game “rules”...this game borrows a lot from BOTW ironically but it’s not as free

I dunno if it's been posted but I just noticed something...

The best way to use dead eye is to dip in and out. Meaning go into dead eye, get your kill with one shot or two max, go out of dead eye, then go back into dead eye to get your next target. When you do it like that you don't have to reload... It does it automatically... And it saves your dead eye, making it last longer

It's bad ass to kill as many people as possible in dead eye but in long, drawn out firefights you will deplete dead eye quicker that way, then you'll have to get a tonic or food in the middle of the fight, and that shit can cost you a gold medal...

Also, if you tap the run button IMMEDIATELY after aiming down the sights, Arthur will move a bit faster while shooting. For us run n gun gta online players, this makes it feel a little more comfortable

ya there was a clip that chrislee posted that briefly mentioned the dead eye/reload trick...definitely good info tho

I helped an escaped prisoner get out of his shackles and another prisoner on a wagon. They both gave me a tip about a home robbery but I don't see them on the map. How do I do them?

Likely because Rockstar invests a ton more time and money into creating their story modes so they are going to make you look at least some of it. Hell the horses in RDR2 have more dialogue than Link has ever had.

I thought I was only one disappointed with the Arabian. Im headed to the Trapper in West Elizabeth with 4 perfect pelts. I'm about 100ft from the Trapper when a cougar runs up on us. My bitch ass horse bucks me off and I'm dead before I can even get up. If I didn't have a back up save I would've probably quit playing for a min.

What horses are y'all using?

the white war horse I got when I accessed the first stable...there’s an ongoing “debate” that started a couple pages back

Finally got the Arabian. It took fucking forever because he kept walking away from me. It seemed like I was calming her ass all the way across the fucking North part of the board, but I finally got her (please baby baby please baby baby please).

I named my last horse Centaur, but my Arabian is named Paisley after my favorite artist Brad Paisley

Arabian is over rated. Cop a war horse

That horse is too slow

the ai for both of my war horses are not skittish nor running away when I hop off to skin animals or loot bodies
vs
my arabian and American standard are pussies - even after full bonding always trotting away unless I can hitch them
- worse had a bobcat pop up on us - he must have been down wind so the horse didn't smell or hear him - I kick the horse in gear to warp out of there but the fucking pussy bucks me off -good thing I almost always ride with my shot gun equipped and I had learned quick draw / hip fire dead eye with only the right trigger or that would have been death -if this was the first rdr I would shot that pussy horse

Another thing the ai for for my first Tennessee walker and my war horses (Hungarian half breed)) seem "smarter" than the other breeds I have

Rose Grey Bay Arabian. Fully bonded it's still skittish but runs forever and is a bullet sponge.

Man I can't wait til more of us finish it so I ain't gotta be mad all by myself.

In the couple I've gotten like that they give sometype of location name, you just have to find it on the map.

There not on the map. You're have to look them up on YouTube for the exact location. You can click left to bring up the side objectives if you prefer to explore.

I may be thinking of something different, but most houses/areas have some type of name associated with it, you just have to zoom in on the map.

I’ve also never had my guns disappear. You just have remember to get them off of your horse before going into a mission.
another example of random
-I was riding around a bend and had a full speed head on collision with another horse that was fleeing 6 wolves - before I could get up 3 of the wolves had already in process of killing 1 horse - my horse kicked one wolf and ran and Arthur is just getting on his knees surrounded by 5 wolves and 1 hurt wolf...
got a few bites - first time I saw animation of hitting wolf with gun stock - all shots were at point blank range- no clean kills all pelts worthless and Arthur was covered in blood...

its an evolution of rdr1 - everything is more detailed and complex... the map is largest I've ever ever seen - the detail of certain areas and even cities can be overwhelming
I bought all of those already
start to fight tactically... against larger groups +6
shoot from proper cover and when possible move to cover, make them come to you
if you are caught in the open, crouch and keep moving to some form of cover
-if you starting the fight - using dynamite and explosive rounds disorient NPCs
I sent a dynamite arrow into the middle of a group of soldiers - the survivors were shooting in every direction except where I was coming in from
