This discussion/argument over positive vs negative music promotion has been going on for a while, but I'd like to interject a concept I haven't yet heard mentioned: profit margin. Right or wrong, I know some subscribe to the conspiracy theory that big money, media producers and promoters consciously choose to push negative messages to undermine black culture. However, I believe it may have something to do with how much easier and cheaper trap music is to produce due to younger less savvy artist, fewer professional musicians, often only street backdrop videos, etc. If they spend less to sell as much or more, its a no-brainer which message they invest in more. I've never invested in music, but could this be a part of it?
