Bad business on both ends. When I sell studio time, I explain my rates. Then I find out how much time the artist wants, collect my money, & write him/her a receipt. If he/she happens to be the type of artist that comes in ready & knocks a session out with time to spare (as I urge them all to be), I write a SECOND receipt detailing the balance of time owed. Both the artist(s) and I know what's up before any work is even started, ELIMINATING the need for anyone to feel played. I do this because it's good business, plus my studio is at my house along with my wife and kids. Can't have BS where ya lay ya head.
I'm gettin flyers together to open up shop a lil broader. This is why I got a new scanner. Artists will have to produce ID when they enter, along with signing a log book. The IDs will be scanned and uploaded to an online location. You gotta learn from the Tru Life/Mobb Deep situation, Pac's 1st shooting incident, Jam Master Jay, and now, this ignorant shit posted above. That shit can't end up no way but bad, jail, counter-ass whoopin', or death. We all know bout backin a cat into a corner. Most real niggas will fight you, but a coward WILL kill u. All they have to do is feel played... and what does that betta than gettin ya ass whooped on youtube.

When checking into a hotel there is a presumption that payment is due at arrival or checkout. This guy was informed that his card was declined and he promised management he would take care of his bill prior to departure. He intentionally defrauded the hotel by purposely leaving without paying as agreed. Big difference. You're just wrong on this one bro. Let it go.
I agree with your basic premise but there is a line that once crossed makes a matter unreasonable and beyond fucked up. An ass whipping was possibly warranted. But to nearly kill a guy over a business debt is too fucking much. And even when partaking in a fight, once the other person clearly is defeated, the point has been made and you need to pump the brakes. I wasnt talking about this dudes in home project studio. When you go to a real studio like D&D in the 90's you had to sign in like a hotel. You signed into to sessions with an agreement to pay. There is a presumption you or the label will pay at the end of the session...anyway though....

You up all day and night tracking, mixing, and possibly mastering for two weeks while the artist is leading you on by making you think he is going to pay. Then finally after the fuck boy gets the gold master and you ask him wheres the guap he busts out with some bullshit story about how he doesnt have the money AFTER you put 80 hrs into his shit. 1-Looks like a housing stairwell to me, likely working out of apartment paid for by city which CANNOT be used as a business without approval from state if I recall.
2-They can't possibly be making much money (assumption) if this dude was getting studio time before paying for it, poor business acumen.
3- He'll be waiting for that money a long time most likely if he does win suit, much less find a lawyer willing to take case.
