Randy Moss, 34, to hang up cleats

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Adam Schefter
ESPN

Future Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss has decided to retire rather than continue playing.

"After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he's decided to retire," Moss' agent, Joel Segal said Monday.

Moss, 34, played 13 seasons, caught 954 passes for 14,858 yards and 153 touchdowns.

Adam Schefter is ESPN's NFL Insider.

I guess there wasnt too much interest in his services but if a team loses a receiver this year they'll consider signing Moss to a deal

Re: Randy Moss Retires

oh shit...wasnt he just talking about how he went all in for his off-season workouts....

Re: Randy Moss Retires

saw a clip where culpepper threw a perfect pass to him , he pulled his hands down and let the ball go , he gets no respect from me

Re: Randy Moss Retires

shit reminds me of Allen Iverson....ego man...ego....

Shit, he can go down as one of the top 3 receivers of all time, though. I think dude earned his ego. I'd rather see him do this than go down like Emmitt with the Cardinals or Montana with the Chiefs.

yeah... you dont want him to play beyond his years...but dude is a superior athlete..including last season, this dude probably had 3 years of being a really good receiver in the right system..

not just ego...maybe i should have clarified... a destructive ego....he essentially ran himself out of new england unnecessarily

Dude obviously didnt want to sign to a losing team like T.O. has been doing and I doubt he is in T.O. type of shape

He played himself last season shutting it down the way he did

Nevertheless his Hall of Fame trip has been secured for some time, first ballot

Re: Randy Moss Retires

i think he had atleast 2 more good years left in him but maybe those years wasn't up to his standards so he didn't want have 2 more years like he had in oakland so i respect him for retiring when he did more athletes(talkin to you roy jones jr) should take his route

It's not like he was turning down offers. Fact is. he wanted to play for the Pats, and when they signed Chad Johnson (to the 3-year deal that Moss was hoping for last year) the dream was over.

The Pats' signing of Chad Johnson killed his dream.

(Dude could've played out last year with the Pats and signed another one or two year deal to continue. Unfortunately, he started bitching about wanting something more long term. Desean Jackson should take notes, receivers who make unrealistic demands can be easily replaced.)

Re: Randy Moss Retires

It's amazing that dude is an underachiever and still considered Top 3 WR of all-time.

Damn shame what happened with Moss and Culpepper in Minny. Those two were lethal together. Shit, Moss was lethal with Brady too. Shame all around. :smh:

He obviously went about it the wrong way but i dont blame him for wanting an extension considering what he did for the team. Those midget wideouts didnt work out so well for them in the postseason either.

Related sidebar: I bet you Moss got the bubble guts a little bit when he heard the pat signed the attention whore though.
