Most movies depict the dreams and fantasies of Black women, loving and marrying the "Morris Chestnut" type white collar brother in the movies. In real life is that how y'all roll?

I guess my point is some blue collar cats are knocking down 70k while some white collar professional brothers are getting 40k-50k.. but he does have a white collar job...does occupation mean that much to you?

is it status? such as, you dont want to bring him into your educated circle of friends? sorta like the movie/book Disappearing Acts.. a Franklin type, but not illogical as his character was. or do you just rather a suit & tie type brotha?

Re: **Question for the ladies?? does Blue Collar brothers have a chance?

I'm ain't gonna say shit. But the, " does ". That ain't helping our peoples mayne.

of course Blue Collar brothers have a chance. I don't pick a guy based on what he does for a living, as long as it's legal. Now one thing I won't deal with is a brother that is not trying to go anywhere in life, and I don't do the unemployed and not trying. I try not to be a liability to anyone, and I refuse to let anyone be one to me.

It's not about your job, it's about the way you treat a woman.

Maybe if that blue collar is on a Fioravanti suit.

 So skeptical. I like a man that can change my tire and hang a shelf. Dream man = a scholarly carpenter or mechanic...or a non-bug shit crazy artist/writer type (sadly a lot of them are insane, but perhaps that's the price of greatness). I find men that work on cars very sexy for some reason. Occupation has nothing to do with whether a man can carry himself or fit in in a diverse group of people. Just don't be crazy, have basic table manners, and talk about the things you know, listen if you don't know.

My friends are always trying to set me up with lawyers etc. I have my own title- what do I need to marry one for if it's all about that  Just be a good man, intelligent, and not crazy. We will be ok!

A man in a suit can change a tire too. You're seem to be a different type of dame all together though; trying to connect on a mental and spiritual level, rather than the physical and material level many women do. The exception that proves the rule.

 I always end up with the psycho artists and musicians.
Someones job means nothing to me. Its how we relate. As long as they do something to pull their own weight it's cool with me. Titles and airs disgust me. If a man starts bragging to me about how much he makes and his degrees and titles, I am gone and fast too.

 I think you actually said something nice about me.

Baby bunny smile!!!!

Bi- yes, musicians particularly seem to be quite in another world! God bless em, but I don't know if I have the fortitude to live with one.

Seem, I said Seem.

Honestly when I read some women's preferences it almost amazes me that I've even been able to meet females in my life time.

That is so true! I don't know anywho who goes trolling for guys based on their occupation. In all actuality I have never met a white color man who was interesting enough to keep my attention. I like guys with varied interests... but the best thing of all is someone who is self driven, and you don't need a degree or an office to be that!

It doesn't matter to me.

I've dated everything from mechanics to accountants.

But if you're anything like the guy I'm renting a room to: 40 years old, barely making 10 bucks an hour as a carpenter, and content with the fact that everything he has (except for his ride) has been given to him...I'd have to say a definite no.

Thank god he doesn't have kids.

I only ask due to, Blue Collar brothers having a certain stigma against them. but we all want that 1 woman that we can treat right.

^^^My father was a blue collar worker.

If you ask me they are less pretentious and have less hangups. They seem more down to earth to me.

Alot of "white collared" brothas are stick in the muds and have an idea of what their woman should look and act like to complete whatever picture they have in their head that they deem as acceptable in society. That ain't for me.

yeah it don't sound too good for that guy.

some females do lose interest once you tell them that you took the other route. but the pay is still the same or greater than some of the guys that they have adulation for. I just dont get it.

For the record, I think all men should know how to change a tire, change their own oil, and put shit together regardless of occupation. I have a white collar job, but my daddy didn't and guess who was helping him do random stuff around the house in his younger days?

I'm interested to hear more about this 'crazy artist' theory from Izayoi and Bigirl though.

 I know it all too well as I am one. I think we tend to be moody and slightly manic and when we are working on our stuff we don't want to be bothered. When we are having blocks from working on our stuff is when the real problems start. Put 2 of us together and its um....quite interesting
Could throw in some stuff about egos/self depriciaton and our tendancies toward substances at times as well. That plus people constantly throwing themselves at us. Its a trip sometimes.

So true. . and my father was a blue collar worker too. I love the realness of blue collar man. That is a quality that sometimes hard to find in a man that is white collared.

For the record, I find these american terms of blue and white collar really stupid. Its different home. The chief minister of my country has used car business and shipping company amongst other businesses. Bank CEO is also a fisherman. Other bank CEO is also a DJ. I just don't get this "one slot" american thing.

BTW...I can change my own tire :hmm:

I know it's stupid. But it is true. In some people. . not saying all people. . but some there really is a huge difference in the way they act. Like they are not humble about their success.

I am well aware. I get into it with these "white collar brothers" with the fucked up attitudes on here every day. Its fucking disgusting :smh: I wish they would realize they are nothing more than pawns.

Co-sign. . . I don't think a lot of them even realize it.

It's real simple. The term refers to people in the workforce. Not anyone who has their own business.

A mechanic is a blue collar worker but if he owns his business, that term is thrown out the window. Same with an accountant who would be deemed a white collar worker but if he owned his own firm, that term is thrown out the window.

Its still very stupid to me.

^^^^ That's what I mean Aristotle. I think that really may be part of the process for some artists- the process is isolating and can produce a lot of anti-social behavior. I can understand and respect, but there would have to be an awful lot of love for me to tolerate it for any extended length of time. Even me having to write that boring ass book of thesis I suffered from moments of depression and inspiration and drank way toooo much. I don't even like alcohol like that. :smh:

BTW...I can change my own tire :hmm:

Me too, but I'd rather not. I can hang my own shelf too, but I don't want to. I cook,do laundry, and give back rubs- asking a ninja to help me hang a shelf is not really asking too much imo. My father was very handy- could remodel and build anything and maybe I look for a bit of that in a man. I admire a man that seems capable with his hands. Note: I will void shelf hanging and tire changing if he can cook and bbq.

I swear, this has got to be a NY thing. If I had a quarter for every time I've come across a rapper, singer, pianist, musical engineer, songwriter, etc, I'd have been able to pay HNIC's server bill for a year. But they do have something magnetic about them to me, I guess its their eccentric nature that gets me. When they get inspired it's a beautiful thing, and when they are in a slump, run for cover.

I personally don't care what he's doing to make a dollar, as long as he loves what he does, and isn't selling drugs. I make my own money, so what's in your pockets means a pile of nothing to me. Status? I could care less; that's not gonna make me love you any more or less.

Where have all you non shallow women been all my life :dunno:

I'm right here in NY. And I should be sitting in your lap. So......? ;)
