Question for the gun heads of the board.

Fam,

I'm in the market for a revolver. I'm not very knowledgeable about guns but this gun will mostly reside in the house for protection. I'm looking at a 357 mag Taurus 7 round shot. I wanna be under 500.00 is this a good value for the price? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Revolvers are better for carry than home defense. As an old G once told me sometimes you may not need to shoot a nigga you may just have to pistol whip his ass.

For home defense I prefer a shotgun and a pistol with a 12+ mag clip. reasoning behind this is the shot gun will stop the initial invaders and than use the pistol to pick off stragglers.

I'm a GLOCK man, but I've had revolvers. Whenever someone mentions price limitations, I always ask 'How much is your life worth?'

With that being said, $500 should get you what you want (depending on where you live). My advice is to get a long barrel pistol and then cop a few hundred .38 special rounds to practice with at the range (357s shoots 38 rounds too). Practice with 2 hands, 1 hand, off hand, etc.

Be safe and keep that burner out of reach of the kids.

Never had a revolver so my turn gun game is limited.

I do recommend GLOCK, SIG in the 9mm lane or any .45 caliber if you want a pistol.

Rifle wise HK 416 or any .223 short barrel AR-15/M-4 variant. You will ALWAYS be able to find parts and ammo and they are perfect in close quarters such as your home.

500's are a very solid choice. I'd go with a 12ga, with full loads of 00 buck staggered with slugs for HD. The key is to train with your defense rounds........

Thanks for all the advice not really a gun guy. Just feel with me in the road all the time for work need to have something at the crib for protection that my lady can handle. They were out of stock with the other mossberg. So I ordered this today

This isn't true, because revolvers are bulky and hard to hide. Semis are flat and better for concealed carry in a holster or even can be placed in a pocket.

Actually they're better for home defense.

This is the one I bought a few years back. I haven't shot no bears but it's loud and intimidating and the most powerful handgun in the world. Dirty Harry shit. Even if I miss I can't miss. Pricey though but I feel it's worth every penny. I want to get another one and the 460XVR .460.

You want a revolver get you one of these It's worth it.

But if your concern is home protection get you at least 2 shotguns as mentioned by other members.

My two Taurus pistols have been totally reliable and accurate. As stated before, get some practice with whatever you decide to get.
