Where’s the money in Arts? How do you expect it to appreciate ?
So what makes this piece of art $21 million special?? Just asking
Yes that buy black and organize will never become a reality as long as we have blacks that make it seems as though the system works. I live in a small country town and some of the advancement that is going on I have yet to see. What I mean by that is the black lady that has the grocery store in California, the other black lady that owns the vegan restaurant, etc. I support things like this and would like to get to know people like this personally to put my 2 cents in. Bee Pollen and other bee hive products, our health helps us to escape our energy being controlled or having to borrow energy from unnatural sources.Of course he can spend his money any way he chooses, never said he couldn't. But consider this, Jews help other Jews, whites take care of other whites, Hispanics assist other Hispanics, Asians take care of Asians, but to way too many of us it's "let that man spend his money the way he wants". That my friend is the wrong mentality and a primary reason why we collectively progress much slower than we should and could.![]()
I’m sorry, I don’t believe anything when it comes to Puff. What happened to buying the panthers?
Tell that to Dame Dash......Puff knew that when he said it..lol
Side note: I keep telling people there is money in the arts....
So what makes this piece of art $21 million special?? Just asking
A Basquiat sold for over $110 mil, not too long ago...
GREAT INVESTMENT!!
Dude's a master painter...he's Lebron with a paintbrush...
Once you're"ordained" by the arts, no matter which field...music, literature, fine arts...your works are
$$$$$$$$$
No he was looking for investors but I guess he didn't have enough people who wanted to invest together with him.You really think it would be just his money?
Well fortunately there are many of us whose thoughts about helping others like us are reflective of something other than selfishness.
I’m sorry, I don’t believe anything when it comes to Puff. What happened to buying the panthers?
I would love to be able to paint or be a graffiti artist.....
going to make other prices go up making the brother some real bread
I'm glad for the artist and props to him, but think what 21 million could do to relieve the plight of many black people living on the street through no fault of their own.
Think how many black kids could be college educated and get a leg up in life if Puffy chose to spend 21 million on that.
I'm hip to the investment aspect of it, but when you have puffy type money investment in people seems to me a better use![]()

Rapper Sean 'P Diddy' Combs has been unmasked as the buyer of a $21.1 million painting by Kerry James Marshall.
The hip-hop artist outbid well-known art collectors and museums for Past Times, which depicts a black family having a picnic in a park.
The record sale for a living black painter prompted speculation about who was able to snap it up at auction on Wednesday night.
Finally, Mr Marshall's dealer Jack Shainman revealed to the New York Times that Combs was the buyer, beating out three other collectors including Eli Broad.
'I know that this work has found a home in a collection with purpose and an eye toward preserving legacy - that of Sean Combs, and that means a lot,' he said.
Amy Cappellazzo, chairman of Sotheby's fine art division which auction the painting, said black American artists were finally being properly recognized.
It was the same year Mr Marshall won a MacArthur Foundation genius grant, and before that he taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The 13-by-9-foot work of acrylic and collage on canvas work was offloaded because it became too valuable for the Authority to protect.
However, Mr Shainman said such huge success wouldn't change the way Mr Walker approached his craft, having just completed a painting of London Bridge for Tate Modern.
'The world is recognizing Kerry James Marshall for the master that he is... what Kerry is happiest doing is working in the studio,' he said.

then why dont you?
These prices are artificially inflated. Buying street art basically has the same worth and value
Ceritus Paribas...is all I'm going to say. Don't knock the hustle.![]()

Do you mean, dont knock the deception??
So you saying Kerry didn't get the $21M?Kerry James Marshall (Black Man) got $25,000 for the painting from the MPEA (White folks).
MPEA (White folks) got 21 million from P Diddy (Black Man).
AT THE MOMENT, the MPEA is the only winner in this deal.
If your mission is to support Black aritst, work with Black artist DIRECTLY and cut out the White Men in the middle!
damn
See how we do each other? Ain't dude an artist too?
Save your coins and support local artists.
So you saying Kerry didn't get the $21M?
Terribly naive to always expect someone of extraordinary means to "help others" when they make extravagant purchases. And as someone else pointed out, Puff is using his wealth to create opportunities.
Just face it. You can't handle that Puff dropped 21 mil for a piece of art. In your mind, there is just no possible rationalization for him to do that.
Let me ask a question and please don't take this the wrong way...
Are you white?
Are you???

The thing about a million-dollar painting is, unlike a million-dollar apartment, you can move it anywhere in the world. The high-end art market has been exploding in the last few years. And as more and more art changes hands moving across borders, more and more art is ending up in warehouses like this one called free ports.
AMBER NOLAND: Free ports are used in the art world to hold work to delay taxation.
SIMON: This is Amber Noland. She manages art for wealthy collectors. And when her clients are buying art as an investment, she advises them the best place for it is often in a box.
NOLAND: The work can live there and be immune to any type of taxation.
SIMON: Amber says her clients store about $300 million worth of art in free ports all around the world. There are now free ports in Geneva, Singapore, China. This spring, New York opens one. At the free port in Delaware with Fritz Dietl, after just a few minutes looking down into the cavern full of art -
Art is subjective and the value is placed by what others are willing to pay.
Dont have the gift of drawing.then why dont you?
Do you know if at some point he would get percentage of the sale from the mpea?Kerry James Marshall (Black Man) got $25,000 for the painting from the MPEA (White folks).
