Prometheus.........

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

If you don't follow the 'Alien' series it's gonna be a hard watch.

If you are a fan of the series you will like the prequel. :dunno:

Ok so this answers my question then...it was a prequel...I never really followed the Alien series like that but I saw enough to sense it tied into it...damn now I gotta check Netflix to see if they have all the Alien joints

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

Yeah? Doubt the studio spent all that money for fans of the original...

Ya I felt the movie did a great job as a standalone flick...prior to seeing the ending I was like damn they need to make a sequel  then I saw the ending and thought of all the earlier parts that reminded me of the parts of Alien I seen and realized it might've been a prequel

Ok I read the first page not reading all the rest but as I guessed those who saw the Alien series seem to be very critical of this flick which make sense cuz I never seen all of the original or any of the sequels but from Prometheus I saw many parts that reminded me of what little I did see but it was still new to me so I wasn't as bored :dunno: I liked the flick tho enough to rewatch it and then watch the Alien joints

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

i was just saying that last night!

that dudes seeing this prequel w/o having seen the other alien movies may not just get it. there's so much hype around the movie but i don't think it will do that well with people with no reference to the 'alien' movies. sheit, most of the people going to see it prolly weren't even BORN when the first alien movie came out in 1979

Again I disagree...not really being into Aliens I saw the flick w/ "fresh" eyes and enjoyed

I saw it without any memory of the original aliens and IMO it was a good movie and it has me wanting to find out more

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

(SPOILER ALERT!!!!)

Why the fuck did the robot infect the CAC with the alien in his alcohol? They never give his intentions

I'm guessing he had his hunches that it would kill him and he was just experimenting on some Dr. Me Mengele shit to see what would happen if he fucked the woman as well :dunno: him disliking dude didn't hurt either (I know he had no 'soul' or wasn't supposed to but when dude kept fuckin w/ him about being a robotic it was obvious he took it some way)...I'm guessing he will fuck the chic over when he flies her to her destination...hopefully they do a sequel/prequel  btw anyone reading this shit that hasn't seen the flick deserves to have it spoiled

Answered a few.

Wow...totally dig your explanation re: the opening scene...so basically humans were an accident...dope shit...damn that white bitch gonna be vex when she find that out

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

Man, I'm glad I NEVER take bgol's movie advice.

This movie was very good and you do not need to be an ALien fan (I never was) in order to enjoy it and follow it for the most part.

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

Cant wrap that whole story up in two hours...

That was my main disappoint...the movie had me...I would've easily checked for 3 hours of story...fuck a Dark Knight

*two cents*

THIS!! ALL DAY!!!

I had to watch the shit twice to get it all together again. The plot holes are not as big as everyone thinks too. The whole flick was about beginnings and endings. The idea and the power of God.

HERE WE GO:

1. God is the alpha and the omega. We know that when God or the Gods were here - they revealed themselves as such.

2. The engineers are just that - engineers. All they do is test and experiment on life forms. They can create or destroy at will so to us they are God or Gods. The alpha.

3. The black goo was a biological weapon. If their experiment goes wrong or does something they dont like they unleash the goo and thats it. The omega.

4. The scientists were all good until they got in the shit. Once the realization of what they found hit them, they lost all sense of logic and reason. Some behaved irrational, others tried to keep cool. The alpha.

5. David did everything he thought was a move forward for the expedition. He thought himself above the humans he was supposed to be subserviant to and tested his god complex on them. The omega.

6. One thing is purpose. No one had any faith or belief except for Shaw and Weyland. Shaw and Weyland are the beginning and the end to the whole trip respectively.

7. The alpha - the micro organism in the black goo altered the maggot that became the snake that poisoned and killed the two scientists. The micro organism digested in Holloway altered his sperm. The sperm merged with her eggs are became the living uterus squid. The squid killed the engineer - The omega.

8. Another thing is motivation, Ridley is clearly showing what a team of people with their own seperate motivations produce. Nothing. They were not a team. Not gelled at all. No one had the others interest at heart. They didnt know each other, all from different corners of the globe, didnt like each other and cared for nothing but the money involved with the mission. This is a clear metaphor for humanity.

9. Stringer Bell - the captain - becomes the omega when as probably the dumbest person on the ship, he uses common sense to figure the whole fucking plot out. Simplicity at its best. Vickers - the hbic - was the alpha because she ran the whole shit and set everything into motion in the beginning. All her intelligence and logic meant nothing in the end when she couldnt even run the right way to escape death. See what Ridley did there?

10. Movie story is as simple as they come but because we expect more to be explained to us we overthink what the fuck we watched and it SEEMS to make no sense. No, it is NOT a prequel - the ships dont match, the timeline is off, the aliens dont match, the planets dont either and the xenomorph was born full sized as a HYBRID. It is the first of its kind - the alpha. Not the same xenomorph from the Alien films - the omega.

Because people are stupid, this flick wont see cult status until decades down the road. Like Blade Runner. I misunderstood what I watched the first time. The second time, I understood everything clearly.

oNE

I have to say it was kinda bogus I tell you. I liked it as a sci-fi film but that's about it. The end where the xenomorph came out of the engineer was bullshit to me.

Ya it was kinda cheesy...I enjoyed the flick more when I didn't realize it was connected to Alien

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

I did not know Prometheus had anything to do with Aliens when I sat down to watch the movie.

I found the movie to be a solid 8.

I did not go expecting action.

I went with no presuppositions.

I was not disappointment.

I don't see all the plot holes. I knew I wasn't watching Avengers.

Totally agree

After reading some of the replies, I feel compelled to delve deeper into why I disliked this movie. As far as Prometheus being a prequel to Alien, that's nonsense. The only tie-in to Alien was the ending, when that thing came out of the "Creator." The movie purposely failed to explain why the "creators" created humans, why they chose to destroy them, and why they decided to make that bio-agent as a means of accomplishing the latter. Granted, I understand the nihilistic implications behind the creators motives, but other than that their actions were completely random--thus the plot hole. Secondly, why did the Android infect the scientist? Thirdly, what was the plot function of killing the two scientists who were left behind? Moreover, what killed them, and why did they mutate like that? In none of the Alien movies did anyone ever mutate into a zombie like entity and go on an insane killing spree. The movie failed to explain any of those plot holes. Really, the only thing good about the movie was the visual spectacle it presented. Other than that the movie is completely unwatchable.

thats why they are making a sequel to the prequel to explain what happen in the original sequels. lol

Re: Prometheus fucking sucked

The biggest issue with the movie to me is the main plot.

*spoiler*

The invitations the scientist concluded to be in the beginning of the movie. They spent all the time and money to get there and the engineer was hostile with no reason why.

This left the main plot point of the movie unanswered and held over for a sequel.
:smh:

No all it means is you believed what they believed obviously the "engineer" didn't give two shits about their arrival...the only thing that was dumb to me was the white bitch talking about she deserve an answer and going to their home planet expecting one...but after seeing all these videos of white ppl getting attacked by animals I "understood" her

A lot of dudes here lack the ability to make inferences or realize how much it can enhance a story's enjoyment and instead want/need everything explained or shown to them...it reminds me as a kid when a friend of mine commented about why is it we don't see ppl using the bathrooms in movies...dude thought he was being deep too...I just looked @ him and shook my head

Drayonis said:
-It looks like he was testing the weapon. He sacrificed himself as the ship left. It didn't work entirely and parts of his DNA fell into the primordial river below and started to replicate. (Creating humans) I believe the grey ooze (bio weapon) is a cellular accelerator, that works buy causing the cells to race forward until they burn out. It also (the grey ooz) works doubly that it causes fierce mutations in certain lesser creatures, like humans and earth worms.

I gotta big up this comment again...I seen it @ the beginning but didn't fully tie it into the connection between the humans and the "engineers"...it helps explain a lot...when I watched that scene I watched it thinking the humans/aliens cohabited Earth...anyway about to watch a few parts again

My 2 cents on David...he was too important a character for the discussion not to center on him

...also David had a lot of quotables none of which were by accident which give some insight into his motives...I think him spying on Shaw's dreams helped motivate him as well...either that or it helped him make a connection w/ her to achieve his goals...2 lines he said stood out to me...the one about nothing in the desert something something and then the part about all children wanting their parents dead...I might be reaching but I think there's a lot of resentment in David as he always tryna one-up everyone on some verbal sparring shit...I think his goal is to eliminate mankind...he seemed to respect the "engineers" far more than humans

i just finsh watchin this movie..it was ok...i guess this is how the aliens movies all got started...glad i didn't when to the movies and see this..:hmm:

I recently saw this movie.

There is no doubt whatsoever that its filled with plot holes. It would have been alot better without some of the needless action scenes (zombie attack) and more on the mythos or science scenes.

My main question though is... why would such an advanced race create a bio-weapon it cannot even control?

I think there is a twist coming... I dont think the scientists assumptions were on the money. I think the engineers are at war. I think we were created as test subjects for their weapons, or they chose to sacrifice us by testing their weapons, because they are desperate in their war.

Thats my theory anyway.

This was a decent sci fi flick, but left too many open plot holes and the ending was cheesy

Those super hero movies all starting to look the same

I wanna get back to regular movies

You didn't like Iron Man and The Avengers

Your taste in movies is ass :smh:

I hope they kill you off this season T-Dogg

You too damn old to be watching comic book movies dale

copped this on 3D blu-ray yesterday before seeing it....lesson learned. wish i could return da shit...waste of money, movie sucked.

- chick does her own c-section/abortion and no one questions when she suddenly resurfaces almost naked and bloody? she still runnin around like nothing happened....no staples came out??
or her insides for that matter.....??

- charlize theron made it a point to tell shaw not to touch da machine, yet NOTHING is made of da fact when shaw uses it and disappears?

- what was the point of the human-god committing suicide in da beginning?

- why did David poison shaw's boyfriend??

- how in da fuck does shaw roll over sideways only 2 times and clear da big, wide ass u-shaped ship as its falling? why da fuck didnt charlize theron do da same?

- since when did luther give a fuck about anybody and decide to sacrifice himself, his crew and da ship? o wait, i forgot.....cuz he's black :hmm:

- luther and charlize theron fuck...where did dat come from?

- as scared as those 2 scientists who got lost were cuz they were left in da tomb overnight, what in their right mind would make them think they could utter sweet nothings to an alien snake and something good actually come out of it?? who would do that?

- why did da human-gods want to obliterate earth? and what da fuck is shaw thinking by takin their ship to 'whoever they came from' to get answers? like she's actually gonna get answers, considering that when da 1 surviving human-god woke up he str8 went apeshit on every one of them....:dunno:

- what was da point of da hologram meeting when old man Weyland was on da ship da whole damn time??

- why did no one inquire as to where David was when he disappeared as they were investigating the tomb?

I got many more questions like this. This was just a silly, all-over-the-place mess of a movie. Parts of the story and the actions of the characters just made no sense at all. Waste of money.

 Even tho these inferences may still be wrong, they were simple enough to make while watching the movie ... and while debating about them afterwards when talking about it with others.
I'm also begining to think that some weren't paying close attention because several of the questions I've read in this 9 page thread were answered IN the movie without need of conjecture.

so there were other ships, shouldnt there be more engineers?

or just an airbase and the only ones there were on the crashed ship?

iirc that's where the woman and the robot were going at the end to the home of the engineers
