Dudes from Memphis, music is a whole different vibe.

Wonder who he was listening to while J was on top.

Not feeling relevant anymore, make some hugely innocuous statement.

Carry on……

I'm the same way,I like certain songs of his but as far as just listening to him,he spits lyrics but there is no emotion in his voice but the production is what he learned to lean on for that.

A lot of what he says will fly over heads, rapping in codes is ok but sometimes its more than what most want to hear.

I told a cat on this board that the south in general was not rocking with Jay-Z too tough. He probably took it as i was taking a swipe at Jay-Z.When in reality thats far from the case, way far.We can literally go to all southern state's from Texas,Louisiana,Tennessee,Mississippi,South Carolina,Georgia and Arkansas and probably more and take a hood survey from each southern state and ask was Jay-Z popping around your way during Jay-Z's career and the answer will be resounding........No.............. You cant make something be that never was.

More than likely 2pac,The Geto Boys,Scarface,UGK and a lot of Bay Area Rappers. You have to understand when J was on top he wasnt on top in the south(facts) i as well as many others who just happen to be in the south during that time can attest to that.

How would cats that can barely speak in complete sentences feel a rapper that has a vocabulary and uses double entendres and wordplay and shit?

Those are the fans that always say shit like the beat was fiyah.

East coast raps were built on verbal dexterity

This why I don’t bother with Jay haters. I’ve learned over time that the ones who hate, are the ones who usually struggle to comprehend.

Voice is very importsnt to me liking a rapper. And JayZ has an unbearable, prepubescent quality to his voice I could never fock with.

To this day, I still havent checked a full Jayz album in its entirety. He aint wack, just not my taste. Same reason I dont fock with Kendrick Lamar, meanwhile ppl treat him like he the 2nd coming

Or maybe, he just wasn't feeling Jay like that. It's fine. That won't or hasn't stopped me from liking Jay.

Y'all acting like it's a crime. It's not that serious.

I kinda of understand what you are saying. This is the reason I don't fuck with Eminem. I just never liked him, or his annoying voice .

I like Hov and went back to Re-listen to reasonable doubt and 4:44 to see the growth of the artist. now that I am of a more of a mature age, both albums are classic pieces.

I remembered I interviewed Project Pat back in the 90s and called him Fat Pat live on air. It was really quiet for a sec then everybody laughed. I had a homeboy who we used to call Fat Pat and it slipped. Those were the days.

Mista Don’t Play in my top 20 favorite albums. That shit was a 5 mic. Don’t argue with me.
I remember that. The Source magazine which is from either Boston or New York gave that album high praise.I have never known a solo Memphis rap artist to ever get any kind of praise like that from an East Coast hip hop publication.

Why do people generalize when they are speaking for themselves.

If Jay-Z didn't have fans outside of New York he wouldn't have been able to tour.

Speak for yourself
Because I’m speaking generally. I know people was fucking wit him outside of ny cause I was out of town. But the general consensus was that they didn’t.

Bullshit..................Artists do it all the time Bruh.In fact they are doing right now as we speak. You ever heard of artist's touring together and getting on the same ticket with other artist and tour across the US and the world..Doesnt make you or mean that you are conquering that region.

You need to stop

Again, if an artist is only regional, he can't tour.

So obviously he has fans all over.

Like ummmmm, Lil Wayne

Yeah but Big Pimpin did get cats hip to Jay....then he did songs with Scarface....

But yeah I saw first hand in ATL and Houston when Big Pimpin came out.....mfkrs knew every word of Bun and Pimp's verses.....and just kind of bobbed their heads to Jay ......

Beyonce can't sing Jay Z can't rap. Soon they'll be saying Michael Jackson couldn't sing and dance and Prince didn't really play instruments.

Out of ALL of the wack-ass rappers out, they pick one of the most successful to complain about. Since no one gives a shit about their music they think people will give a fuck about their opinion.
