Prayers for Chris Johnson

I wonder how much concussion and whatnot have to do with that if anything.

This proves how dangerous football is.

I mean it's gotta be football related because of the abuse these players take on that field.
Football and concussions ain't got shit to do with it. Like Truth said, the disease was first named after a baseball player.
Plenty of non-athletes are diagnosed with it ever year.

Sporadic ALS (90% of cases): This occurs randomly with no known family history or clear cause. Scientists point to an "exposome"—a cumulative lifetime interaction between genetic susceptibility and environmental factors, such as long-term exposure to toxins, heavy metals, or certain chemicals. Other potential triggers or risk factors include a history of smoking, severe head trauma, or military service.

ALS is a trip, prayers to Chris Johnson and his family.

My best homie has ALS, the disease can effect you quickly or a little slower. I don't know exactly when my homie was diagnosed but it might have been around 2010 or 11. He's still here with us, he's bed ridden but he can still speak, he called me like last year and he still sends me text. I got a txt from him yesterday. His mother passed away from it, then his younger brother passed away from it. Him still being here is definitely a blessing. Technology has definitely helped as well. Hopefully Chris can stay around as long as my homie has.

Just cause others have been diagnosed with it, doesn't mean football isn't the cause

Pretty sure ALS has nothing to do with football career

Allegedly it might.......

From ALS.org

"What is ALS?

ALS is a progressive disease in which a person’s brain loses connection with the muscles, slowly taking away their ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe. Although there is still no cure or treatment that halts progression, new treatments are helping to slow and ease symptoms.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis describes how the disease affects the body:

Amyotrophic comes from Greek words meaning “no muscle nourishment.” When muscles no longer receive signals from nerve cells, they weaken and shrink—a process called atrophy.

Lateral refers to the areas of the spinal cord where nerve cells that control movement are located.

Sclerosis means scarring or hardening, which occurs as these nerve pathways degenerate."

I wonder if Stem Cells or sometype of blood therapy kind of like what they did for Sickle Cell can be used to "re-establish" or "reconnect" the muscles to the nerve cells.....
