PUTNAM COUNTY, INDIANA — Indiana State Police seized an estimated 309 pounds of cocaine with a street value of approximately $7 million during a routine DOT compliance inspection on Interstate 70, authorities confirmed.
According to Indiana State Police, a trooper stopped a blue International semi tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on I-70 near the 41-mile marker around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026. During the inspection, troopers observed criminal indicators, and a K-9 unit later gave a positive alert, providing probable cause for a search of the vehicle.
During the search, troopers discovered 309 pounds of cocaine hidden inside the sleeper berth of the truck. The semi was en route from Joplin, Missouri, to Richmond, Indiana, police said.
Both occupants were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Putnam County Jail. They are each charged with Dealing Narcotics, a Level 2 Felony, and ICE deportation holds have been placed on both individuals.

• Gurpreet Singh, 25, Fresno, California
• Jasveer Singh, 30, Santa Clara, California
Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott said the seizure highlights the importance of full-time interdiction patrols aimed at keeping illegal drugs off Indiana roadways and out of local communities.
