PS5 almost certainly won't be out in 2018
Sony has bad news for fans waiting for the rumoured PS5 release date in 2018.

Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong recently predicted a 2018 release date for the PS4 follow-up.

However, in an interview with German site Golem.de (via VG247), Sony's Shawn Layden suggested the wait could be much longer.

Layden said that it would "probably be some time" before the PS5 is released, which suggests that talk of a 2018 launch is premature.

He also addressed concerns that Sony would start releasing PS4 Pro-only titles.

"That will never happen!" he said. “With the Playstation 4 Pro we have for the first time implemented this kind of innovation within the life cycle of a console.

“The Pro is really only to offer advantages such as 4K resolutions and HMD for players who can and want to use that.

"Add to this a more stable image rate and larger hard disk space. But [PS4 owners have] no real disadvantages. Each of our games will continue to run on the classic PS4 and possibly slightly better on the Pro.”

Analyst Michael Goodman previously weighed in on the rumoured PS5 release date, telling We Write Things: “My original thought was that you’re going on four year cycles, not two year cycles.

“I’m skeptical that they will launch a new console in 2018 after a two year time frame. I don’t think it is going to move to a two year cycle. [Sony] still has to pay back R&D. I mean there is a lot of expense that went into building the Pro.

"Are you going to undercut that market before it has made money?”

“Let’s just play devil’s advocate and say Sony does push it to 2018. Are they going to be able to leapfrog Scorpio and by how much? Is it going to be enough to make a difference? Scorpio being 40 percent more powerful than Pro is a significant jump."

Introducing the PS4 Pro

Speaking of the Xbox Scorpio, Microsoft renamed it Xbox One X and gave it a November 7 release date during E3.

The console is being touted as the most powerful ever, and will support true 4K gaming.

However, as Microsoft points out, super sampling means that Xbox One X games will look better on regular HD TVs.

It was also revealed that all of the original Xbox One accessories will be compatible with the Xbox One X

Good story...i want a x but 500 is 500

Tired of this shit.
They abandoned the PS3 to rush the 4 out, never got the full use of it. Now the 5 is coming or relatively soon? It's like the iPhone scam. I'm prepared to quit console games if they do this hardware rush, on top of micro-transactions in everything. ✌

Don't know why people expect these consoles to last 10 years. This is not 1984 anymore where electronic tech only advances every 5 years. Having a console for 5 years is good enough time for me. Many people don't keep perfectly good working cars for more then 3 years, or a $1000 phone for more then 2 years. Why the expectation for a console for a decade? How many people in here running a computer that is 10 years old as their main device

I have a ps4 but I still use my ps3 everyday. Mostly as a media player but still I feel it's better than the ps4 when it comes to that
