Playstation 4 to be unveiled tomorrow 2-20-13!

You know the software costs more than that disc. Hell the paper inside costs more than the disc most times. Don't forget about the costs of marketing it to you.

Yea, but I'm not talking about the intellectual property.. I'm simply talking about the publishers feeling a way about me making pennies off of the overpriced Disc they sold me..

If they want to kill the used game market, they need to lower the cost of games.. Simple.

I don't think thats how economics work bruh.

Sure it does.. Retail is dying. Lowering retail prices would re-energize the market, and increase demand.. With the current price points, most people just wait to buy games used.. Therein lies the problem.

You mean the same companies Who sell us games for $60 just because. The same companies who pushed for more advertising dollars in games yet never dropped the price of games. You mean the same companies who sell us DLC That's on the disc Already. Both sides aren't saints but every game isn't worth $60. But if anyone is to blame for constant sequels, tacked on multiplayer and bullshit DLC, it's us the consumers as Well as lazy developers. Do Madden games or COD really need to be full price every year? No but people buy it so they make it. But GameStop is raping people blind lately with the amounts they give for games just to make it $5 cheaper. I generally buy the rented copies from Gamefly. Rent em, check condition, buy for cheap with coupons u earn and u get the brand new case.

You think three people make these games ? including marketing... voice actors, game design.. employees have to be paid all the time... so how do you pay them as a company ? sell things!!.. you also need to generate a profit

Yes... They're greedy as fuck.. They've already sold me a 20¢ disc for $60. What I do with it after that is my prerogative.

That's a 30,000% mark up.. :smh:

And they're worried about me selling the shit on Ebay for $10, 2 months later? Get the fuck outta here with that BS, homes.. :smh::smh::smh:

you really didn't say this did you ? :hmm: the disc ? the disc ?

It's the development cost of the game ... it's expensive and time consuming ..which adds more cost...

The maker of the game has to make ...money.... the seller of the game has to make money

you think a game like halo is made in a week... with 5 people ?

Read a few posts back dude.. I'm not talking intellectual property costs.. I'm simply talking whats made at retail, and how it's 100% profit..

What does the retail business model have to do with the game console market? Even when games were cheaper, people depended on the used game market.

Dude.. We're not talking the console market.. We're talking publishers bitching about the used game market..

Price is the only reason the used game market is booming.. Lower prices. The new game market increases.. Simple..

2.6 million people watching... Wow... But this is looking like shiiiiiiiitttt.... They need to wait 3-4 years man. Not seeing the leap at all..

So there aren't any consequences to lowering prices to stimulate demand?

if they killed the used game market and made every single game 20$ i could live with that but dont have me paying 60 bucks for a game i cant do shyt with after i beat it.

Maybe they should have some type of program where they (the game company) buys the shit back and resells them.

What consequences could there be?..

The price point for new games should be $39.99, and they should offer the game for download on console marketplaces 1 month after release (instead of waited 6 fucking months..) for around $29.99...

All of game publishers retail problems are self induced.. Games are getting more expensive, but the quality is getting worse..

so far some cool features such as the social stuff and tray before you buy...but Istill need to see what M$ come with.

It's not 100 percent profit... that's ignorance speaking

Games are like movies... you have your hits

your moderate successes and your failures

cod. and halo smash hits... so is gta

then you have other games in the middle

and then many failures... like prototype 2 which failed bad and will definitely not have the game industry have black main characters :smh:

You see the price of 60 bucks for a game... but don't understand how many ways that 60 has to get split

if game stop had to depend on new games... it would basically be a failed business... they're basically a used game company ... because of the margins... basically none in new games...

:lol::lol:.... remember sony and mircosoft.. have licensing fees... also... yep... that also goes into the cost of that 60 dollar game.... so don't call ea or activison greedy when they're not getting all the money... you have to pay sony and mircosoft for the privilege of making games for their system

Why not test drive the game ? at gamefly... it will minimize the risk of having a terrible game. My argument is this they spend millions to make a game.... so for someone to buy it and then sell it ok... it was there's ,but should the next owner who never gave a cent to the company be able to use online capability like you the new game buyer ?

10 bucks for an online pass is fair... it helps for the lack of money the company never got when that used buyer didn't buy... it is a business after all

There is no reason that justifies trying to stop the resell market by tethering games to consoles or selling online passes for each game. Why not just rely on an online subscription for that revenue that covers all games for a time period, much simpler and convenient? Or like someone already said, invoke a buy back program that will legitimately compete against the resellers. Inconveniencing the customer to capture more revenue generated by their games is the absolute wrong way to approach it.
