Theres always been certain aspects of the planet of the apes saga that relates to blacks in America.
The current trilogy is a rebellion story.
I havent seen this new movie, but the first 2 are very well done and i cant remember anything that came across as racist.
In this case, knowing the storyline of Planet of the Apes, i think they show one ape dressed like that to show that the apes are becoming more and more like humans. Eventually they all wear clothes.

I feel you, but for them to use a blue vest, is mad insulting. Especially when you look at who/what group that blue vest has come to symbolize.

In the first two movies in this go around, the apes were portrayed as the truly superior ones while the humans were technologically advanced but savage and inhumane. So, if this movie follows that narrative, I'd say it's message is subversive and anti-status quo, if anything.

Of course, most on screen depictions of one persecuted group fighting against their oppressors are likened to us and our struggle. There were strong elements of this in the previous two films as well.
My biggest issue with it is the blatant laziness.

In the original version I believe they were mocking some of our civil rights leaders like MLK but there's one scene where an older orangutan didn't want to face what he already knew was that human were there before Ape's and were evolved because a simple doll could speak.

It probably isn't but I had forgotten about dude and really wouldn't have noticed if not for this thread. I was more offended by those coonbots that were in transformers 2......haven't paid or fully watched a transformers movie since.

The whole planets of the apes is about black vs white. They even have a coon ape in the new movie. And just like black people the apes are more civil and forgiving. They even protect the human girl.
