LBJ will see the Ball "franchise" as a distraction and won't wanna hear shit Papa Bear/WWE star Ball trying to say if he goes to the Lakers. Plus another young coach he may believe can't coach him.
Maybe Bird shared some shit with Ainge about PG that makes him less of a quality grab.
Despite what happens on the court, his life decisions show weakness. (baby-mama drama).
Playing with ball-hog Russ and then going to the fuckery that the current L.A. Lakers are - the next 2 years are gonna have PG buggin'!
It seems Boston is next in line if LeBron heads west... Who else is getting better in that conference?
Losing assets to rent Paul George for a year doesn't make sense if you can just walk across the finish line next year and be in a stronger position without him... Essentially-- Why waste resources on a one year war with LeBron?
My point is if it gets you a championship then the one year rental is worth it in my mind. Perfect example is my Cubbies rented Yankees closer A. Chapman for one year, the result was a World Series Championship, this year the Cubs are barely above .500 so when you have a chance to go for it, I say do it.
The Paul George situation was a losing proposition for Indiana. It became a no win situation when George told them he wasn't going to sign an extension and insiders heard he was going to go to LA. At that moment his value dropped like a muthafucka. Leave it up to OKC to give up two players (one of who was supposedly worth losing Ibaka which of course didn't help the Durant situation) knowing full well the player is going to leave the following year.
