Pastor Marvin Sapp locks the doors and extracts $40K from his congregation

sounds like he is living beyond his means.....bills must be due....sell that mercedes dude

Was the money for him or the church?

But dude looked around the congregation and saw all those women spending big money buying tickets to see Chris Brown, Usher & Beyonce and thought to himself aren't I giving you a show and saving your souls, ya'll better give till it hurts..lol

To the attorneys on this board...

...if you tried to leave, and they prevented you from leaving until you gave more money...

...do you have any legal recourse? Would you be within your rights to call 911 at that moment? It's not like you're walking out without paying for something, right? Could this fall under the law for false imprisonment or extortion?

Something doesn't smell right here...
Fam it’s kidnapping and extortion plain and simple

I wish a muthafucka would

What if you have to go to the bathroom?

I hope the membership to his church dropped

Hands would have been thrown.
This!!!!

I don't give a damn about no bishop, pastor, preacher or the fucking pope!

Try to hold me hostage and there will be a lot of furniture moving.

His explanation of the situation was even worse.

The truth is, when finances are being received in any worship gathering, it is one of the most vulnerable and exposed times for both the finance and security teams. Movement during this sacred exchange can be distracting and, at times, even risky. My directive was not about control it was about creating a safe, focused, and reverent environment for those choosing to give, and for those handling the resources,” Sapp continued.

Conferences have budgets. Churches have budgets. And people have budgets. As the assigned ministerial gift for this international gathering, one of my responsibilities was to help raise the conference budget. That’s not manipulation, it’s stewardship.

The other part I'm hearing is that in many churches, you're not allowed to leave during certain times, such as a certain time for worship or prayer, or when money is being collected. They call that "church etiquette". Still doesn't sound good to me... :smh:

I'm glad I don't go to church anymore. Fuck that brainwashed shit called "Religion" :smh:

Don't worry. I'm sure this conversation is gonna smooth things over.

Yooo Alfredas! I remember her from Russ Parr..she still look the same.

I like Rickey but he wrong for this. A few churches I been at do the offering after the sermon and as they go around to drop the funds off, they go out the door. Going to be interesting to hear what he got to say but he's on with his friend so it won't be hard hitting and it will be passed off as "not a big deal"
