good lookin out - didnt think of that or even know a new one is droppingmakko if u gonna get an iphone wait til june/july til the new version comes out
I feel u but this thread is also for voicing issue that one may have with the phone. Makk has legitimate issues that he has encountered. I'm assuming everyone in here agrees that WebOS is a beast but we have to stop kidding ourselves & acknowledge that we are Palm's guinea pigs to a degree in the usae of this new mobile OS.Why is all this Android iPhone bullshit doing in a Palm Pre thread. Shit or get off the pot. Pull the trigger....whatever. Damn I expect to show up here getting some good News and niggas in here all mushy about what phone they might get. Get a phone and use it, if it ain't a Pre post some where else.
or don't
I really like WebOS but Palm and Sprint's tactics have resulted in less developers getting behind it and converting apps to run on it. I've seen guys just basically say fuck webos and just jump straight to android.I feel u but this thread is also for voicing issue that one may have with the phone. I dunno bruh youre the first person i've heard mention it. At this point I dont even care about Sprint. Cant even leave the country and use my shit except on wifi.Makk what do u think of the HTC Supersonic that is supposed to drop for Sprint this year? Specs are similar 2 the NexusOne in case you were wondering.
It's a good phone to go with as a 1st smartphone experience. You saved yourself a lot of headaches by saying no to WinMo & the TouchPro. Android & WebOS are great at what they do. Makk's beefs are to be expected from a power user such as himself but I don't foresee you having any major issues based though.I got a Pre a few days ago. I didn't play with the Hero too much, but the virtual keyboard was a dealbreaker for me I couldn't type for shit on it. I wasn't paying the ransom they wanted for the touch pro, so I went with the Pre. This is my first smartphone experience, and I must say i'm impressed with it. I guess I'm too ignorant at this point to be disappointed with it yet.
Im at home in SC. I have good coverage area wise but in the house all bets are off.Makk, where are you right now that you have a poor signal? Do you think T-Mobile or AT&T will have better coverage?

WinMo would have me using a prepaid throw away phone. I tried to use my old touch for awhile when replacing a pre..............It's a good phone to go with as a 1st smartphone experience. Shouldn't there be a new WebOS update this month, with the video cam included with it?
actually someone told me how to get att with 28% offYeah, this dude is trippin, he gonna leave sprint and pay around 30 to 40 extra a month for a phone that has more apps.
Pre + Flash +video camera = Good
The Pre has a better camera than the Nexus and the Iphone, only thing you're really gaining is more apps.
I would stick with the Pre man.... personally but if you trying to sell shoot me a pm with a price you want for it.
actually someone told me how to get att with 28% off
the price for the equivalent of my 450 everything plan is the same and with the discount its the same as sprint but nights start later and no free mobile to any mobile
How does the 3mp pre cam workout to be better than a 5mp nexus cam?
I havent seen a head to head with the nexus vs pre or any actual nexus pics but if you have point them out to me.
actually i dont really give a shit about flash- i care more about apps
that said wifi tether i will miss![]()
the nexus is better hardware than the hero/mytouch/droid afaikYeah, you'll miss that tethering but you can use pdanet with android.
I'm trying to find a direct comparison between cameras on the pre and the iphone and nexus but the droid camera wasn't great and that was also 5m. I wouldn't expect the Nexus camera to be all that, I expect the 3gs to have a better camera.
I found this but of course it's bias...

Well Makk, whatever you decide good luck. I know your beef is more with Sprint than the Pre anyways. I'm gonna hold the fort down with the others for now. I hope another WebOS device comes out with a candybar formfactor soon though.
I don't like the feel whenever I try to type anything on webpages that are viewed in horizontal mode. It feels very ackward. Plus a candybar formfactor would allow for more spread out keys no matter if it has a slide out keyboard or not. I just feel that the slider formfactor isn't best for usage on smartphone platforms. Hell slider formfactors also take away from the screen size which we all know is crucial when using any kind of mobile OS. WebOS would definitely benefit from being offered on a variety of different formfactors IMO.Why a candy bar form factor ? o alm will most likely release something different. Fact is the Pre form factor ain't that bad. Yeah it could be a bit more durable and it could definatly use some improvements but aside from the Nexus One I don't see another phone that is so much better than the Pre to get me to switch. The Nexus on the otherhand is a monster and by the sounds of it it's just the first of many to hit the market. Still the Pre holds Don't expect Palm to release a Phone that looks like the competion. They never have.
great - gtfo this thread already

Man I was still evaluating when I started really seeing what the Nexus could do and I pulled the trigger. The Pre is dope though. I don't see candybar as a better form factor. Plenty of Winmo candybars even with good hardware (as good as the nexus) that I wouldnt pay $5 for.Why a candy bar form factor ? o alm will most likely release something different. I like the organization of bookmarks and launchers in the Pre but when it comes to looking at web pages I prefer my ipod Touch. The onscreen keyboard in landscape mode is nice and the virtual keyboard is decent. I am used to the Pre's keyboard so virtuals feel weird to me now. Screen size isnt that big a deal since its all tiny but I will take every pixel I can get.I don't like the feel whenever I try to type anything on webpages that are viewed in horizontal mode. Exactly my point. That & trying to move the cursor to a specific spot while in landscape mode can make me wanna rip out my hair at times. I really dont like the Pre slider. I have to touch the screen in order to open the phone- its a little more difficult with the hard case I have but it actually makes the phone more sturdy and gives it a better feel. Looking at web content in landscape and having to type something gets stupid because you can either type sideways or reorient the phone and resize the page. Little things, but if you do them enough it could piss you off.
go suck a 15 day dick faggot
I kinda doubt theyd go candybar. That would be really out of character for them. Maybe dude from Apple will see the writing on the wall though.
Im not even that mad at Sprint. They cant help being fucked up customer service wise. They just went back on their word a few times already and the bullshit deception with Retention just let me know its time to bounce.
I actually peeped game on how to really get over on cell companies so I aint mad at all. The Pre is dope but if you watch the Nexus1 in action you're gonna be like whoa. That 1ghz snap dragon processor is a beast.

Tons of droid joints coming out. Winmo is in trouble. I dont think it bodes well for WebOS either. Alotta devs are going to head over to the Android platform which means apps aren't going to ever be as good selection wise as Apple or Android. I think WebOS(especially if they license it to other hardware makers) is good enough to keep a niche market but really without a merger or something revolutionary I dont see Palm and WebOS being anything more than treo level successes. Just some shit to keep Palm afloat. I think build quality hurt Palm way more than they thought it would with the Pre too. Its gonna be interesting to see if Verizon can make the Pre relevant again. Their ad campaign seems decent.

According to the Buzz Palm is only a company 1000 strong. That ain't many people...the Pre works...could it work better....yes is it a Iphone killer ? no. Nexus killer ? no It's just a good phone not the best not the worst. what gives ?
Id rather not have a phone than to have fucking T-Mobile. GTFO with that nonsense.cancel your sprint account and sell your pre and get a nexus
cancel your sprint account and sell your pre and get a nexus
it shits on any other phone period
shit is FASTER than the Pre, on every level it shits on the iphone and pre - the pre is still decent but damn - try a nexus yall
one
Nope. Totally different radio frequencies. T-Mobile & AT&T use GSM while VZW & Sprint use CDMA.Can that shit be flashed to work with Sprint?

I heard the update is supposed to roll out today, anybody got that?
I went Makk's route already as well. I'm now a N1 owner on a non contract plan for T-Mobile. Only $60/month for 500 mins w/ unlimited text & web. The N1 really is a beast!I dont know about a full update
but we're supposed to get flash this month through the app catalog
http://www.precentral.net/flash-webos-confirmed-february
im about to go makks route tho
i just dont want to lose the cheap bill
but its taking way to long for us to get simple shit like a camcorder when hackers already layed the groundwork
